THE WORLD'S WAY

05/19/2024

“Don't love the world and what it offers. Those who love the world don't have the Father's love in them” (1 John 2:15 GWT)

The world’s way of doing things should never appeal to you. This is something that you must train your spirit to accept. You must consciously reject the wisdom of this world. Embracing the world's manner of communication and way of doing things will result in defeat, frustration, hopelessness, and misery. It will subject you to the tyranny of failure and sickness. A person who does not separate themselves from the world's ways of doing things rebels against the God-life, even if they are born again.

John the apostle, speaking by the Holy Spirit, said in 1 John 2:15, “Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him.” The Message translation puts it this way: “Don’t love the world’s ways. Don’t love the world’s goods. Love of the world squeezes out love for the Father.” In other words, adopting the world's ways of doing things can nullify, diminish, and render the Word ineffective in a person's life.

David said in Psalm 119:101, “I have restrained my feet from every evil way, that I may keep Your word.” Why would he do so, you may ask? Because the world's way of doing things will never produce the glory of God. Notice he didn’t say, "God restrained me," but that he restrained himself. It’s your responsibility to reject counsel that puts you at odds with the ministry of the Holy Spirit in your life. Paul the apostle said, “But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.” Not God doing this, but you! You are the one to condition your mind and emotions to align with God's Word. You are the one to reject thoughts of sin, defeat, anger, and everything that contradicts God's Word.

For instance, the scripture says, “Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? Or what does a believer have in common with an unbeliever? What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God…” (2 Corinthians 6:14-16). Knowing this, your job is no longer to pray about which way to go on the matter but to simply obey!

Likewise, 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4 says, “For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from sexual immorality; that each of you should learn to control your own body in a way that is holy and honorable.” This is not so that we can debate the Scriptures, but that we may obey them!

Saints, we are not like the rest of the world because we have been called out of their way of doing things to live the heavenly life. It is now time that we arise to our heavenly way of doing things. Isaiah 60:1 says, “Arise, shine; for your light has come! And the glory of the Lord is risen upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; but the Lord will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”

Child of God, the days of looking for an excuse to act and talk like the people of the world are over! So, embrace this beautiful life that you have. The world around you needs you to fully live out this life of God that you now have.

God bless you.

Faith-filled Confession

I recognize the light and glory of God's Spirit that dwells in me. I acknowledge God's gift of righteousness and surplus grace to reign as king over circumstances and devils of hell in this life. Therefore, I refuse to partner with the counsel of ungodly men and thoughts that oppose the reality of the Lordship of Jesus over my life.
