“For who is greater, the one who is at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who is at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.” — Luke 22:27
In the world, greatness is often measured by status, authority, and how many people serve you. But Jesus completely reversed this idea when He spoke to His disciples. He reminded them that although people usually consider the one being served as greater, He Himself came among them as a servant.
This is a remarkable truth. Jesus is the Son of God, the King of kings, yet He chose the position of a servant. His life demonstrated humility, compassion, and a willingness to meet the needs of others. He healed the sick, fed the hungry, comforted the brokenhearted, and ultimately gave His life for humanity.
Jesus did not just teach about serving—He lived it. And through His example, He shows us the kind of heart God desires from His people. True greatness in God’s Kingdom is not about position, recognition, or titles. It is about having a servant’s heart.
When we follow Christ, we are called to reflect this same attitude. Serving others with love, humility, and sincerity reveals the character of Jesus in us. Whether our service is seen by many or known only by God, it is valuable and pleasing to Him.
Today, remember that every act of service done in love reflects the heart of Christ.
Faith-Filled Confession:
I have the heart of a servant just like Jesus. I serve others with humility, love, and compassion. My life reflects Christ, and through my service God is glorified. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
