GREATNESS THROUGH SERVICE

“For who is greater, the one who reclines at the table or the one who serves? Is it not the one who reclines at the table? But I am among you as one who serves.” — Luke 22:27
In this passage, Jesus challenges the common idea of greatness. In the world, the one who is served is usually considered more important than the one who serves. Yet Jesus, the Son of God, revealed a completely different standard. Though He was their Master and Lord, He chose to live among them as a servant.
Jesus demonstrated that true leadership and greatness in the Kingdom of God are expressed through humility and service. His life was a continual example of meeting the needs of others—healing the sick, teaching the truth, and ultimately giving His life for humanity.
When Jesus said, “I am among you as one who serves,” He was showing His disciples the model they were to follow. Serving others is not a sign of weakness; it is a reflection of Christ’s character within us.
As followers of Christ, we are called to carry this same heart. Whether in the church, our families, or our communities, our lives should reflect humility, compassion, and a willingness to help others.
When we serve with love and sincerity, we reflect the heart of Jesus to the world.
Faith-Filled Confession:
I have the heart of a servant just like Christ. I serve with humility, love, and sincerity. My life reflects the character of Jesus, and through my service God is glorified. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
