“Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear” (Hebrews 12:28, NKJV).
Receiving and requesting are not the same. Many make the mistake of asking when they should be receiving. Yes, both may involve the use of your mouth, but receiving requires three components: acknowledgment of receipt, praise and thanksgiving, and confession of possession (or what is often referred to as a faith proclamation).
Most importantly, you cannot receive anything from God without first being notified. John 3:27 (NIV) states, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven.” But how can we distinguish what is given from what is not? 1 Corinthians 2:12 explains, “We have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God.” In other words, part of the Holy Spirit’s ministry is to notify us of what we have received, often through the inward witness or through scriptures that stand out during our daily Bible study.
Once you receive this notification, your immediate response should be praise, thanksgiving, and confession of your possession.
1 Corinthians 2:9-10,13 (NIV) further emphasizes this: “However, as it is written: ‘What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard, and what no human mind has conceived’—the things God has prepared for those who love him—these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit. The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God…This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.”
As we speak in line with this divine notification of receipt, we affirm and bring into manifestation the things we have received from God. This concept is further explained in Philemon 6, which says, “That the sharing of your faith may become effective by the acknowledgment of every good thing which is in you in Christ Jesus.”
The only way to fully possess what you receive from God is through the notification of the Spirit, praise and thanksgiving for what God has revealed, and speaking in acknowledgment of what you are receiving.
As a church, we are in a season of receiving. As the Lord notifies you of what He is releasing, be sure to respond as you should.
Have a blessed day!
Faith-Filled Confession
I declare that I am open to the counsel of the Lord as He releases revelation and abilities into my heart. I am fruitful with what I receive, bringing glory to God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
