“This charge I commit to you, son Timothy, according to the prophecies previously made concerning you, that by them you may wage the good warfare” (1 Timothy 1:18).
Every Christian is a minister of God and from the Father's perspective, His ministers are like an elite team of soldiers. Hebrews 1:7 says, "And of the angels He says: “Who makes His angels spirits And His ministers a flame of fire.” Effectively, God says He makes you a flame of fire. And please, notice the tenses.
There is no burning out with the child of God. The only thing that can happen, and often does, is that the intensity of your burning can flag. However, the Lord says to you, "Do not let your zeal subside; keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord" (Romans 12:11 BSB).
This means that your fervor, how much you burn, is your responsibility. That you are supposed to burn for God is a given but at what intensity is yours to determine. In today's theme scripture, we are given a hint of how to burn with great intensity as a minister and it starts with prophecy.
Here is why. God's ministers should usually be on the offensive. Maybe, you want to pray offensively or go out on evangelism, start with prophecy. Prophecy is the Kingdom's strategy for launching offensives. When David confronted Goliath, he began with prophecy. He said, "This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you. And this day I will give the carcasses of the camp of the Philistines to the birds of the air and the wild beasts of the earth, that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel (1 Samuel 17:46). That was all the intensity that David needed to complete the task.
Now there may be times when a believer may be forced into a defensive position due to ignorance or the scale of the enemy attack. In a defensive position, you lift your hands and sing praises to God so that He takes up the battle. But a time comes when playing defense doesn't bring God the glory due to His name. A time comes when God's kids have matured out of running to Him for help whenever they are confronted by strong opposition. At such times, war is waged by prophecies.
If, by now, you aren't in full recognition of what the Lord is asking us to do right this month, He is asking us to use prophesying to catapult ourselves out of lethargy and despondency. He is asking us to prophesy our way through that financial or health situation. The dryness that some of us have felt in our spiritual walk will cave at the opening of our mouths to declare its end.
Declare that you are on fire for God as never before, over and over, and watch things begin to shift. This month, we talk to mountains in brusque language: "‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” ’ ” (Zechariah 4:7)
The Lord is saying, "Prophesy yourself to the next level!" Hallelujah!
Faith-Filled Confession
I prophesy that I am on fire for God as never before. The anointing wells up in me, burning every impurity within and dissolving every obstacle without. My prayer life is in an ascendancy I have never experienced before and I can no longer be contained by any opposing force. The constraints are broken. The fire of God in me burns with ferocious intensity so that even the heathen gravitates to the brightness of my rising. Hallelujah!
Prayer
Begin with thanksgiving for His victory in our lives. Hebrews 13:15.
"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise—the fruit of lips that openly profess his name."
Pray for the president of the United States. Pray for wisdom and guidance to lead as he ought. That he will not succumb to the pressure of political influence that goes against God's will for this nation.
Pray for our mothers. Declare that they live long to see and experience the fruit of their labor.
