PRAYING FOR YOUR FAMILIES

1/19/2026

Joshua 24:15

“And if it seem evil to you to serve the Lord, choose you this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.”

Malachi 2:15 (NLT)

“Didn’t the Lord make you one with your wife? In body and spirit you are His. And what does He want? Godly children from your union. So guard your heart; remain loyal to the wife of your youth.”

One of your solemn responsibilities as a child of God is to serve as a spiritual covering for your family. This responsibility becomes even more critical when you are the only one saved in your household. God is not interested in saving you alone—He is committed to your entire family: your spouse, children, parents, siblings, cousins, uncles, aunts, and generations yet unborn.

As the one who is saved in your family, you are God’s point of contact. You are the God-link. If God is going to do a work in your family, He will do it through your partnership with the Holy Spirit. Even when you do not see your direct involvement, you must be confident of this truth: God intends to reach your family through you.

This partnership with the Holy Spirit is expressed through your participation in the God-life. Every time you walk in the light of God’s Word, Heaven gains ground in your family, and the forces of darkness are pushed back. Apostle Peter alluded to this principle in 1 Peter 3:1, when he wrote that an unbelieving spouse can be won without words by the godly conduct of the believing partner. In other words, godliness carries salvific power. And if godliness can unlock salvation, it is also necessary for growth, maturity, and stability in the home.

One of the reasons many people are not sold out for Jesus today is that for too long, some Christians have lived double lives. Unbelievers may not know doctrine, but they can discern light from darkness. It is difficult for an unbelieving family member to be drawn to Christ when the believer in the family lives no differently from the world. Authentic Christianity is loud. Hypocrisy is louder.

So what is the essence of this truth? Intercede fervently for your family. Pray for both the saved and the unsaved. Boldly declare, “As for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” But beyond prayer, live out the life of Christ before them. Let your family see Jesus in your words, your conduct, your love, and your integrity.

Remember, God has reconciled the world to Himself through Christ and has committed to you the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18–19). He needs your active participation. I believe this is a year to make an eternal difference for the gospel—starting with your family.

Prayer Points

  • Pray for your family members by name. Declare that they will not depart from the way of the Lord.

  • Pray for the marriages represented in your church. Declare fruitfulness, unity, and endurance.

  • Refute every plan of darkness to destroy marriages, sibling relationships, and parent-child relationships.

  • Pray for fathers and mothers, including those carrying dual responsibilities, that they receive wisdom to lead their homes in godliness.

  • Pray that our children are taught of the Lord Himself and severed from every negative influence.

  • Declare that our children hear the voice of God, commune with Him, and develop a personal relationship with Him.

Faith-Filled Confession

I declare, in the name of Jesus, that no weapon formed or fashioned against the families of GHC residents and partners shall prosper. I declare that our children are taught of the Lord, and great is our peace. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
