THE GOOD SHEPHERD

3/11/2026

I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down His life for the sheep.” — John 10:11

In this verse, Jesus reveals one of the most beautiful pictures of His relationship with us. He calls Himself the Good Shepherd. In biblical times, a shepherd was responsible for guiding, protecting, feeding, and caring for the sheep. The sheep depended completely on the shepherd for their safety and survival.

Jesus uses this image to show the depth of His love and commitment toward us. Unlike a hired worker who may run away when danger comes, the Good Shepherd stays with the sheep and protects them—even at the cost of His own life. Jesus demonstrated this love when He willingly gave His life on the cross so that we could have eternal life.

This means that we are never alone or unprotected. The Good Shepherd watches over us, leads us in the right path, and cares for every detail of our lives. Even when we face uncertainty or difficulty, we can trust that He is guiding us with wisdom and love.

Our role as His sheep is to trust His voice and follow where He leads. When we stay close to the Shepherd, we find peace, protection, and provision.

Today, take comfort in knowing that Jesus is your Good Shepherd. He knows you, He cares for you, and He will never abandon you.

Faith-Filled Confession:

Jesus is my Good Shepherd. I am safe under His care. He leads me, protects me, and provides for me. I trust His voice and follow His guidance. My life is secure in His love, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
