MAINTAINING YOUR SPIRITUAL DEFENSES

02/27/2023

"...Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.” (Psalm 105:15)

There is a sovereign injunction to stay in your call irrespective of the adversity you might face occasionally. This injunction is not just directed at people who might pose a threat or obstacle to you and the fulfillment of your calling, it is also an injunction to wicked spirits and systems that purpose to harm you.

Isaiah 54:17 says, "No weapon that is formed against you will prosper; And every tongue that accuses you in judgment you will condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their vindication is from Me,” declares the LORD." This scripture gives a lucid description of the most portent of the enemy's different weapons and these are accusations that produce condemnation. Maybe, a thought enters your mind every so often about something that makes you feel insecure, depressed or unworthy. Going by today's theme scripture, the fact is that injunction makes any such suggestion by the enemy illegal in the realm of the spirit. You are to be untouched.

So why does the enemy attack your mind? He attacks it because even though he is not supposed to, he can, particularly in the aspects where our minds have remained unrenewed.  Now, the Lord will deal with the enemy for flouting this injunction but you too must provide a response because your mind is yours to steward for God. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says, "For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds." Strongholds are mental thought patterns that have gone unchallenged by the application of the word of God to your mind.

For example, maybe you struggled with an addiction like alcoholism and then,  you kicked the habit by renewing your mind on how not to depend on alcohol in stressful times. However, you didn't realize that you also needed more fundamentally to deal with the identity of an alcoholic, Satan will shoot accusations in form of memories about the pleasure or regrets of once being an alcoholic. Your job is to look for a scripture or a couple of scriptures to counter the thoughts that the enemy hauls in this regard.

Now if you are easily seduced into depressive or compulsive behavior when the enemy draws from your past, your response should not be based on what God about you. In essence, what has God said about you? In the case of someone who is attacked in the area of alcohol, God says, "A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, temperate, sober-minded, of good behavior, hospitable, able to teach," (1 Timothy 3:2). Therefore, you reconstruct your mind through, meditation, confession, action and prayer to be as God says you are.

Saints, the enemy is very subtle and you, just evaluate every thought by the word of God. This is why you cannot afford to be a novice. Study the word, know it through and through, and let it be how you respond to the accusations that the enemy hauls at you.

God bless you

Faith-Filled Confession

I am grounded and continue to ground myself in the word of God. Therefore, I am well-defended from every accusation that the enemy hauls at me. In Jesus' name. Amen
