“Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.” (1 Corinthians 16:13)
Christianity is not a religion — it is the living, breathing expression of the Word. Christianity is a Word-life; everything about it is rooted and built upon the Word of God. It is absolutely impossible to live the divine life of Christ apart from the Word. You cannot demonstrate the God-life without first understanding the Word.
Isaiah 5:13 declares, “Therefore my people have gone into captivity, because they have no knowledge; their honorable men are famished, and their multitude dried up with thirst.” Notice, their trouble was not because of economic hardship or external forces, but purely due to a lack of understanding.
The Bible tells us that Christians are possessors of eternal life — a life superior to sickness, failure, death, satan, and all the forces of darkness. Christianity means Christ’s divinity has taken residence inside your spirit. Jesus is not more divine than you are today. You will not become more divine when you get to heaven; you already carry the fullness of His divinity right now! You are here on earth as an expression of His power and glory. You are not of this world; Christ in you is the hope of glory for your generation. There is so much power and ability infused into your spirit — enough to power the entire universe for eternity! This is your present reality. Glory to God!
Having received this life, you must now allow the Word to gain mastery over your thoughts, because the Word of God is incapable of failing. Understand this: God’s plan was not just to save you. His desire is for you to come into the full knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). In Colossians 1:9-10, Paul prays that God would fill you with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding so you can live a life worthy of the Lord, pleasing Him in every way, and bearing fruit in every good work. There is no true productivity without the Word working deeply in your spirit.
When the Spirit says, “Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong,” He is urging you to be unwavering in the Word of Christ, unshaken by the shifting tides of religion and the world’s philosophies. Jude 1:3 appeals, “Beloved, while I was making every effort to write to you about our common salvation, I felt the necessity to write to you appealing that you contend earnestly for the faith which was once for all delivered to the saints.” The word “contend” in Greek means to appropriate and to engage in a contest with skill and commitment against anything that is not of faith.
What is faith? Faith is acting on the revealed Word of God in alignment with Christ’s finished work — His conquest over hell, death, and this world. When Jude said to “contend for the faith,” he meant to lay hold of the reality of your salvation, healing, victory, peace, success, wisdom, strength, authority, liberty, and prosperity — and to oppose anything that contradicts this reality. The most effective way to oppose such contradictions is through bold appropriation and proclamation.
So, get into the Word today. Let it saturate your mind and spirit. Stay on it by continually confessing it and meditating on it. Let the Word frame your thoughts and determine your responses to life.
God bless you!
Faith-Filled Confession
Divinity is at work in every fiber of my being. I am conscious of my success, prosperity, health, favor, joy, progress, excellence, and victory over hell and death. Christ’s conquest is my conquest. Therefore, I set my mind on the Word and refuse to entertain any thoughts or words that contradict the reality of my victory and prosperity and all that Christ has accomplished for me. Praise God forevermore!
