"You who have escaped the sword, Get away! Do not stand still! Remember the LORD afar off, And let Jerusalem come to your mind." (Jeremiah 51:50)
When Jerusalem comes to your mind, another resource that readily presents itself as being at your disposal is the general assembly and church of the firstborn according to Hebrews 12:23.
The general assembly and church of the firstborn is everyone that has been saved in heaven and on earth. Ephesians 3:15 calls it "the whole family in heaven and earth." But you don't necessarily need everyone in the church to legislate yourself out of trouble on the evil day, no. You only need one person for Jesus said, "...where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." (Matthew 18:20)
And whatever these two or three bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever they loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. (according to Matthew 18:18). Understand that some challenges require legislative reinforcements and it takes the Holy Spirit to decipher this. In such situations, the moment you feel overwhelmed, let Jerusalem come to your mind by picking up a phone to call or reaching out to that brother or sister that can pray a storm with you.
Understand that the church is not a building. And you do not have to wait till Sunday to address a situation. Rather, the moment you have another brother or sister agreeing with you on a matter, in prayer, the general assembly and church of the firstborn are in session.
The underlying principle for the general assembly is that "...By the mouth of two or three witnesses every word shall be established.” (2 Corinthians 13:1). So the next time you feel threatened by or have a burden for something to come to pass, look for a willing brother or sister and have church on the matter.
A vivid picture of this legislative power of the church happened in Antioch. Acts 14:19-20 says, "Then Jews from Antioch and Iconium came there; and having persuaded the multitudes, they stoned Paul and dragged him out of the city, supposing him to be dead. However, when the disciples gathered around him, he rose up and went into the city. And the next day he departed with Barnabas to Derbe." I pray that the Holy Spirit would give you insight into this scripture. Why did they gather if Paul hadn't died?
When you came to Zion, you also came to the general assembly and church of the firstborn. Therefore, take advantage of your rights and let nothing on the surface of this earth push you around again. Call that brother, sister or pastor and tongue out a prophetic legislation on the matter.
This is your day of victory. Hallelujah!
Faith-Filled Confession
I am fully aware of the matchless resource I have in my brothers and sisters to meet any challenge. As the disciples in Bible days had all things in common, I come into agreement with any member of the general assembly and church of the firstborn to secure advantages that inhere from agreeing as touching the things that concern us for the furtherance of the gospel. In Jesus' name. Amen.
