IN THE MIDST OF TESTS AND TRIALS

“Going a little farther, He fell with His face to the ground and prayed, “My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be taken from Me. Yet not as I will, but as You will.” (Matthew 26:39)
Every true elevation in life is usually preceded by seasons of opposition and contradiction against God’s will for your life. These difficult moments are not meant to break you; they are part of God’s process of growth, preparation, and promotion. For this reason, you must be careful not to pray away every challenge you face, because sometimes the very thing you are asking God to remove is the tool He intends to use to elevate you.
Many people miss God’s best because they refuse to embrace the cup set before them. Instead of enduring the process, they hand their responsibility to someone else. Yet, the one who accepts the cup and remains faithful through the process is often the one who walks into promotion.
Jesus Christ remains our greatest example. Although He had the opportunity to avoid the suffering ahead of Him, He chose complete surrender to the Father’s will. He prayed, “Father, if You are willing, take this cup away from Me. Nevertheless, not My will, but Yours be done.”
This was more than a moment of prayer; it was a defining moment for eternity. The destiny of humanity and the authority of heaven, earth, and hell were all tied to Jesus’ decision in that hour. His surrender would forever alter mankind’s relationship with God and establish victory over Satan through the new creation.
As powerful and historic as that moment was, it ultimately came down to a personal choice. Jesus chose obedience over comfort and God’s will over His human emotions.
There may be times when the oppositions you face feel unbearable. Perhaps you have carried the weight of certain battles for so long that discouragement has started to settle into your heart. You may even question whether it is worth continuing in God’s will when your emotions are pulling you in another direction.
If you feel this way, remember that even Jesus experienced deep anguish before the cross. Yet, He did not allow His emotions to control His decision. He surrendered His feelings to the Father and chose obedience despite the struggle within Him.
I believe Jesus continually strengthened His heart with the resolve: “I choose the will of God.” Then He proved His surrender through obedience by accepting the cup before Him.
Had Jesus failed to overcome His emotions in the Garden of Gethsemane, He could not have overcome Satan’s dominion over the world. This teaches us an important truth: great victories are often preceded by smaller daily tests. Many of these tests involve dealing with self — pride, impatience, unforgiveness, selfish desires, insecurities, and learning to trust God completely even when it costs you something.
Beloved, remain steadfast in the midst of trials and tests. Victory is yours already in Jesus name. Amen
God bless you!
