“Therefore, while the promise of entering His rest still remains and is freely offered today, let us fear, in case any one of you may seem to come short of reaching it or think he has come too late” (Hebrews 4:1, AMP).
For the child of God, the Sabbath is no longer just a day; the Sabbath is a person—Jesus. So, avoid senseless debates or arguments about which day of the week the Sabbath falls on. Some argue it's Saturday, others say it's Sunday, and still others might claim it's Wednesday. But none of these debates matter because, as a child of God, you have Sabbath every day in Jesus. In Him, you live, move, and have your being. Hallelujah!
Scripture teaches us that because of Christ’s eternal and triumphant victory over darkness, “...let no one judge you in food or in drink, or regarding a festival or a new moon or sabbaths, which are a shadow of things to come, but the substance is of Christ” (Colossians 2:16-17). Unfortunately, many hold on to the shadow and miss the substance, which is Christ. By clinging to a single day as holy, they hold on to mere shadows. But for the child of God, every day is holy, and every day is a day of rest in Christ.
The gospel of rest has been preached for ages, yet the Israelites did not enter into their rest because they did not combine the Word of God with faith (Hebrews 4:2). Faith, the key to living a life of glory, is essential, for “the just shall live by faith” (Habakkuk 2:4). Faith is the currency of the Kingdom. Because of their unbelief, the Israelites could not benefit from the rest God offered.
Today, God extends that same invitation to you. Life doesn't have to be full of ups and downs—He has called you to a life of glory, peace, and rest. As long as the promise of rest remains and is freely offered today (Hebrews 4:1), it’s not too late! How can you recognize someone who has entered God’s rest? Hebrews 4:10 tells us, “For the one who has once entered His rest has also rested from [the weariness and pain of] his [human] labors, just as God rested from His own.” In other words, when you enter God’s rest, you stop relying on your own ability and embrace His ability as your own.
Hebrews 4:3 says, “For we who believe [that is, we who personally trust and confidently rely on God] enter that rest [so we have His inner peace now because we are confident in our salvation and assured of His power]...” Entering and enjoying God’s rest requires faith—a faith that trusts and confidently relies on God. So, when you hear God’s Word, mix it with faith. Let your tongue be the mixer. “For He Himself has said, ‘I will never leave you nor forsake you.’ So we may boldly say: ‘The Lord is my helper; I will not fear. What can man do to me?’” What God has said is meant for you to speak boldly in agreement.
As you meditate on God’s Word today, believe and declare what He has said. By doing so, you enter His rest. In His rest, you will enjoy peace that surpasses human understanding and be assured of His power.
Today is your Sabbath—so enjoy God’s rest every single day.
Faith-Filled Confession:
Christ is my Sabbath. Therefore, I refuse to have anxiety over any circumstance in life. I know that the righteous cannot be forsaken, and because of that, I am at rest. I have confident peace
