YOUR FUTURE IS IN YOUR MOUTH

05/13/2024

"Look also at ships: although they are so large and are driven by fierce winds, they are turned by a very small rudder wherever the pilot desires. Even so the tongue is a little member and boasts great things. See how great a forest a little fire kindles!" (James 3:4-5)

The scripture likens the tongue to a little fire that eventually consumes a forest. This should let you know that the tongue does not just govern the direction of your life in one-off statements, each word sets off a chain reaction that eventually determines the rest of your life. Proverbs 18:21 says, "Death and life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit." This means that death and life don't just happen. You have to wield the tongue to whittle the infection, the bad habit, or the debt. You also have to wield the tongue to prop up the family, the money, and the business.

If you fail to use your tongue deliberately to prop up your life and ministry, you are choosing a compromised future. Jesus says, "For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. (Mark 11:23)

This means that everything you have today, you said. And whatever you will have tomorrow you are saying today. Now, you may be experiencing difficulties in your relationships,  health or finances, and wondering when or how you called these things into your present experience. The scriptures cannot be broken. The Bible says, "For there is nothing covered that will not be revealed, nor hidden that will not be known. Therefore whatever you have spoken in the dark will be heard in the light, and what you have spoken in the ear in inner rooms will be proclaimed on the housetops" (Luke 12:2-3).

This is why you must be guarded about the things that leave your lips. Your future is in your mouth and if you're going to excel, you must become the oracle of God in your life. 1 Peter 4:11 says, "If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God..."

God's number one desire is not for you to toil for things. His desire is that you would be His prophet in charting His course for your life. This is why you must learn to speak in tongues and prophesy to yourself, every day.

While speaking in tongues is a sure way to advance your cause in the heavenlies, prophecy is how you advance your course on earth. Zechariah 4:6-7 says,  So he answered and said to me: “This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel: ‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the LORD of hosts. ‘Who are you, O great mountain? Before Zerubbabel you shall become a plain! And he shall bring forth the capstone With shouts of “Grace, grace to it!” “ Your efforts must never precede prophecy. On the contrary, prophecy must orient your efforts.

Have an excellent day!

Faith-Filled Confession

My future is in my mouth. I recognize that I am God's oracle for the manifestation of His plan for my life. Therefore, I am dutiful to make His paths ready and prepare His way in me, through my words. I will have whatsoever I say, therefore I am guided to say only the things that God would have me say concerning my life. In Jesus' name. Amen
