YOUR ATTITUDE AND THE ANOINTING

05/17/2024

“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8).

Anyone can put on their best attitude when the conditions are right. It is easy to remain calm and respectful to an obnoxious client when the boss is standing right beside you. Or to say, “God bless you, sweetheart,” because the pastor is within view when someone cuts in front of you in line at the grocery store. You can go from yelling at your spouse one moment to acting like an angel the next because your life group leader came to visit. Certain conditions can make us display our best character, but our true character is revealed when these conditions aren’t present.

For example, what was your attitude when the position you had hoped for did not come through? Did you withdraw and become indifferent? Listen, what you do and how you act in such moments can either connect you to or disconnect you from the anointing, regardless of your past achievements. One wrong turn can cause a shipwreck of everything.

John the Baptist, who was a great man of God and who had witnessed God move mightily found himself in a place where his attitude became questionable. He was treading on offense because Jesus did not come to get him out of jail like He thought that Jesus should have. Jesus had this to say to those that John had sent to go ask if He was the one. “Jesus answered and said unto them, go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in Me.” Jesus was making it clear to John that He was not going to be defined by John’s situation.

Be careful that you don’t get disconnected from the flow of the anointing, not even for a minute. The enemy desires nothing more than to see you function without it. If things haven’t worked out the way you hoped, it’s nobody’s fault. It may be God trying to tell you something you’re not paying attention to. If you are rattled by a little disappointment, it means you are not ready for the next level of increase, and it is time to grow. Remember Peter’s words in 1 Peter 5:8: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Stay with the process, child of God. The Word will not fail you. Be patient and always display Christ’s character everywhere you go.

You are blessed.

Faith-Filled Confession:

I go forth today with joy and peace. I break limits by the power of the Spirit. I see obstacles crumbling before me. I see open doors of favor before me. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Prayer

Today, stand in the gap for the city where you live, asking God to forgive past offenses against certain persons and groups that arose from the actions of ignorant Christians in the past.

Pray that He will cause Christians in your city and country to restitute for the actions that have created a blockade in the spirit so that many more might come to Christ.

Declare that the justification of the enemy to hold many in atheism, queerness, and hedonism based on hurt they experienced from Christians is broken. In Jesus' name,
