“So brothers and sisters, since God has shown us great mercy, I urge you to offer your lives as a living sacrifice to Him...” — Romans 12:1 (NCV)
There are moments when God will require things from you that may not make sense naturally. He may ask you to give more when you feel you have already given enough, to keep serving when you are weary, or to trust Him when circumstances seem uncertain. To the natural mind, His instructions can appear unreasonable. But God has never operated according to human logic.
In Mark 14, a woman brought an alabaster jar filled with very expensive perfume and poured it on Jesus. Those around her immediately criticized what she did. They called it wasteful and unnecessary, arguing that the perfume could have been sold and the money given to the poor. Yet Jesus saw it differently. What men called waste, Jesus called beautiful.
The woman did not give Jesus what was convenient—she gave Him what was valuable. She yielded completely, holding nothing back. Her act of worship was driven by love and surrender, not by human reasoning.
The truth is, obedience to God will not always be understood by people around you. Some may question your commitment, your sacrifice, or your devotion to God. But there is blessing, peace, and fulfillment in yielding fully to Him.
1 Corinthians 1:25 says:
“This foolish plan of God is wiser than the wisest of human plans, and God’s weakness is stronger than the greatest of human strength.”
God sees beyond what man can see. What appears unreasonable today may become a testimony tomorrow. The woman with the alabaster box is still remembered because she responded to the prompting of God without resistance.
Today, do not resist the leading of the Holy Spirit. Yield completely to God even when His instructions challenge your comfort or understanding. Your obedience may become the very thing God uses to impact generations.
So when God speaks—yield.
Faith-Filled Confession:
God is working in me, giving me both the desire and the power to do what pleases Him. I will not resist His leading. I walk in obedience, surrender, and trust, knowing that His plans for my life are perfect. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
