WHAT IS YOUR MINISTRY?

“Take heed to the ministry which you have received in the Lord, that you may fulfill it.” (Colossians 4:17)
Many believers genuinely desire to serve God but struggle with identifying their calling. This confusion has led to the popular idea that a person’s past struggles automatically define their ministry. While God can redeem any situation, He is not the author of our mistakes. Our message is not our past—our message is Christ (1 Corinthians 1:23).
The Bible makes it clear that every born-again believer has received one ministry: the ministry of reconciliation. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation… and has given us the ministry of reconciliation” (2 Corinthians 5:17–18). Having been reconciled to God through Christ, we are now entrusted with helping others experience this same new life. Though our roles and functions may differ, the assignment remains the same.
Paul’s instruction to Archippus reveals something important. Even though Archippus served under apostolic leadership, Paul emphasized that his ministry was received from the Lord, not from man. This shows us that our responsibilities in God’s house are divine trusts, even when they come through human leadership. Therefore, they must be handled with faithfulness and diligence.
If you are in Christ, you do not have to wonder about your ministry. You have received the ministry of reconciliation—expressed through personal evangelism and faithful service within your spiritual covering. Take heed to the ministry you have received in the Lord, and fulfill it.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Confession:
God is fully expressed in me and through me. I carry the ministry of reconciliation, and the love of Christ flows through me to my world, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
