"Giving thanks to God the Father, who hath made us worthy to be partakers of the lot of the saints in light." (Colossians 1:12, Douay-Rheims Bible)
Anger has derailed many beautiful destinies. Moses is a prime example; despite his anointing, he lost out with God because he couldn't control his anger. As Christians, especially as ministers, we must fight the urge to be bitter and angry, regardless of the situation, or we risk not fulfilling God's plan for our lives.
Child of God, nothing corrupts and frustrates the grace of God like anger. It's something we must never tolerate in our lives. We must learn to live according to the Word of God, regardless of our feelings or how we have been treated. This means forgiving quickly and moving on in love. As David said in Psalm 37:8: "Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil." Harboring bitterness is like drinking poison, hoping it will harm the person who hurt you.
Many of God's people still haven't realized that anger, bitterness, unforgiveness, and strife are the root causes of many life-threatening illnesses. Anger is the number one cause of unexplained pain (stress-related pain), high blood pressure, and diabetes. James 3:16 says, "For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work." These negative emotions open you and your family to ungodly influences. Holding on to anger gives the enemy legal ground to interfere in your life.
God wants to do a lot with you and through you. He doesn't want to see your prayers go unanswered or for you to live as though He is not present. But if you tolerate anger, unanswered prayers and a life devoid of God's presence will become common. If you desire to walk in the fullness of God's blessings, you must work proactively with the Holy Spirit. Sync your entire being with God's Spirit. Instead of being bitter and angry, be thankful.
Things may not always go as planned, but in the midst of it all, maintain an attitude of gratitude. Let gratitude become your lifestyle. It's hard to find someone with an attitude of gratitude who is miserable and depressed. James 1:20 declares, "For the wrath of man does not work the righteousness of God." Dwelling in anger and bitterness will not manifest God's presence in your life; it short-circuits the anointing of the Spirit, leaving you exposed to attacks you may not be able to respond to.
I encourage you with the words of Paul in Ephesians 4:30-31: "Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice." Shut every door that may lead to bitterness and unforgiveness. Your well-being should motivate you to live a life of love. Romans 8:28 says, "And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose." You have nothing to lose by walking in love and maintaining an attitude of gratitude. Being thankful in everything is key to success in whatever you do.
God bless you!
