“Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, nor have entered into the heart of man the things which God has prepared for those who love Him” (1 Corinthians 2:9).
Don't let the experiences of others define your revelation of God. While we thank God for the great encounters described in Scripture, these should not limit your own experience of Him. The depths and dimensions of God are vast and beyond what anyone has fully grasped—they are available to you. Each encounter with God is uniquely personal. No two encounters are ever the same; each carries its own distinct signature. You cannot replicate someone else’s encounter with God, just as no one can have your encounter with Him. Understanding this liberates you from religious expectations and ushers you into a life of freedom and liberty in the Spirit.
Growing up, I often heard phrases like, “So and so has Elijah’s anointing” or “That sister is the Esther of our generation.” Initially, these phrases seemed complimentary, but as I studied the Scriptures, I realized there was a fundamental issue with them. As a new creation in Christ, your identity is found in Christ, not in figures like Esther, Moses, Elijah, or Elisha. Colossians 3:4 says, “When Christ, who is your life, appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.” You don’t need Elijah’s or Elisha’s anointing; in Christ, you have the fullness of the Spirit—something the greats of Scripture didn’t possess. The notion that we should long for the days of Elijah or seek Elijah’s anointing is misguided.
Acts 1:8 states, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.” If you have received the Holy Spirit, you don’t need another anointing. Asking for more or fresh anointing indicates a lack of understanding about what you already carry within you. What you need is to stir up the anointing through prayer in tongues. Jude 1:20 says, “But you, dear friends, by building yourselves up in your most holy faith and praying in the Holy Spirit.”
Paul’s revelation of this truth was evident when he addressed the church in Ephesus. He said, “Therefore be imitators of God, as beloved children” (Ephesians 5:1). In other words, now that you have the Holy Spirit, live in a way that reflects God's nature and produces results consistent with it.
No matter how glorious Elijah's encounter with God was, you have something greater. Don’t let their encounters limit you. There is more in the Holy Spirit.
God bless you.
