GOD GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE

6/26/2026

“God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.” — James 4:6

One of the most heartbreaking statements ever spoken in Scripture was when the prophet Samuel said to King Saul, “When you were little in your own eyes, were you not head of the tribes of Israel? And did not the Lord anoint you king over Israel?” (1 Samuel 15:17).

In essence, Samuel was asking, "What happened to you? How did you drift so far, so quickly? Why did you allow the voices of people who did not elevate you to become louder than the voice of the God who did?"Saul's downfall did not begin with disobedience—it began when he lost the humility that had once made him dependent on God.

Child of God, there is something irresistible to God about a humble heart. Humility is not weakness, nor is it thinking less of yourself. It is recognizing that every opportunity, every victory, every gift, and every accomplishment is the result of God's grace. A humble person never forgets the One who opened the door, made a way, and sustained them through every season.

There will be moments when God seems silent and His promises appear delayed. Those are not the moments to depend on your own understanding—they are the moments to go deeper into His Word. Humility chooses trust over self-reliance and God's wisdom over human reasoning.

Here is a truth worth holding on to: humility positions you for more of God. The more you depend on Him, the more His grace is revealed in your life. His grace gives strength when you are weak, wisdom when you lack direction, favor beyond your qualifications, and power to accomplish what you could never achieve on your own.

Never allow success to replace your dependence on God. The higher He lifts you, the lower your heart should bow before Him. Stay teachable. Stay grateful. Stay surrendered. The same humility that attracted God's hand upon your life is the humility that will keep you walking in His blessing.

James 4:6 reminds us, "God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble."You never have to strive to become all God has called you to be. His grace will carry you where your strength cannot. As you humble yourself before Him, He will strengthen you, establish you, and exalt you in His perfect time.

Walk humbly with God today. His grace is more than enough, and it is always available to those who trust Him.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

I choose the path of humility. My confidence is not in myself but in the grace of God. I remain teachable, grateful, and fully dependent on the Lord. His grace strengthens me, His favor surrounds me, and His hand lifts me to fulfill His purpose. In Jesus' Name, Amen.
