THE WEAPON OF THANKSGIVING

12/4/2025

“And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the Name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him” (Colossians 3:17).

A heart full of thanksgiving cannot be a heart full of complaints. The two cannot coexist. Complaining is a contaminant—it pollutes the spirit, darkens the mind, and destroys the atmosphere of faith. This is why Scripture continually urges us to maintain an attitude of thanksgiving. “In everything give thanks, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you” (1 Thessalonians 5:18). Thanksgiving is God’s antidote to murmuring.

Throughout the Bible, no complainer ever ended well. Every example of complaining in Scripture ended in loss, tragedy, or destruction. The children of Israel are the clearest illustration. After witnessing the most dramatic miracles the world had ever seen—the plagues, the parting of the Red Sea, water from the rock, manna from heaven—they still found reasons to murmur.

At one point they said, “Would that we had died by the Lord’s hand in Egypt, where we sat by pots of meat…” (Exodus 16:3). Imagine that! After seeing the Red Sea stand like walls on both sides while they walked through on dry ground, they preferred slavery simply because of temporary discomfort. They were ungrateful, and no miracle was ever enough for them.

Paul warns us about this mindset in 1 Corinthians 10:10–11: “Do not complain as some of them did and were destroyed… These things happened to them as examples and were written down as warnings for us.” In other words: Do not replicate their foolishness—complaining leads to destruction.

Saints, life is meant to be beautiful. Don’t complicate it with murmuring. Some situations may present themselves as “legitimate reasons” to complain—but as a child of God, you have no legitimate reason to be a complainer. Instead of complaining, give thanks. Complaining pulls you backward; thanksgiving pulls you forward.

“For freedom Christ has set us free. Stand firm then, and do not allow yourselves to be entangled again with a yoke of slavery”(Galatians 5:1). Complaining is a yoke—thanksgiving breaks it.

Colossians 3:17 tells us that everything we do should mirror the Name of Jesus and carry the fragrance of gratitude. You may not be where you want to be yet, but thank God you’re no longer where you used to be. Even if certain desires have not yet manifested, still give thanks. If God has done it before, He will surely do it again.

Greater dimensions of God’s blessings flow to the grateful—and that is who you are.

God bless you!

Faith-Filled Words:

Since the Lord is my Shepherd, I have all that I need.

He gives me rest on every side and refreshes my soul.

He leads me in paths of favor, increase, and abundance.

Even when the world faces uncertainty, I fear nothing, for my prosperity is secured in Him.

Goodness and mercy follow me every day of my life,

and I sit with Christ far above lack, misery, and every limitation—

all for His Name’s sake.

Hallelujah! Glory to God!
