"...again He designates a certain day, saying in David, "Today," after such a long time, as it has been said: "Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts." For if Joshua had given them rest, then He would not afterward have spoken of another day" (Hebrew 4:7-8).
The usage of "Yeho-Shua" is intentional in today's devotional because of the way the name of JESUS has been blasphemed in popular culture. Yeho-Shua, as it is implied from the Hebrew language, means "the Self-Existent One who saves." For emphasis, Yeho-Shua is the same as Joshua. The first incarnation of the name is Joshua, the son of Nun. Exodus 17:9-10 says, "And Moses said to Joshua, "Choose us some men and go out, fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on the top of the hill with the rod of God in my hand." So Joshua did as Moses said to him, and fought with Amalek. And Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill."
Moses handled the priestly work while this first incarnation of Yeho-Shua, Joshua, the son of Nun, enacted the victory in real-time. John implied this in John 1:14 when he wrote: "And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth." It is important to note that Nun in Hebrew means the faithful one. Now, not everyone in the Bible was qualified by the name of their father, but this Joshua always had the title "son of Nun" attached to his name because he was a walking prophecy of Yeho-Shua, the Son of the Faithful One.
In the revelation of Yeho-Shua, Joshua, the son of Nun, embodied three significant things: strength, courage, and obedience. Joshua 1:7 tells us that God gave him his life's plan in this instruction: "Only be strong and very courageous, that you may observe to do according to all the law which Moses My servant commanded you; do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may prosper wherever you go." These were the three things that characterized the life of Joshua, son of Nun.
But God also taught Joshua how to embody his divine purpose, and this is recorded in the next verse. Joshua 1:8 says, "This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."
There is a similar call on your life to embody Yeho-Shua in 1 Timothy 2:5, and the only way to do this is to emulate the son of the faithful one through faithful meditation. We are called to mediate between God and humanity so that reconciliation occurs. 1 Timothy 2:5 says, "For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus..." In this scripture, the Man Christ Jesus refers to the Church as the saving arm of Yeho-Shua. Your job is to begin to seed your spirit with scriptures that manifest this purpose. Humanity is waiting for you. God is waiting for you. You are the manifestation of Yeho-Shua, the meditator, for you cannot mediate until you have meditated.
Take your meditation seriously this year. Head knowledge won't suffice in this season.
Have a great day.
