“But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).
Revelation is progressive, but truth is absolute. Concerning the power to witness Christ to the world, you received this power the moment you were filled with the Holy Spirit, evidenced by speaking in tongues. This means that if you activate the power consistently, witnessing Christ becomes an automatic outcome. However, it's important to direct your speaking in tongues towards the specific purpose of witnessing through your words and imagination.
Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” The power at work in us is for witnessing. However, witnessing Christ is not just about preaching. Preaching the gospel is one way to witness, but we also witness Christ through intercessions, operating in spiritual gifts, and our worship. Moreover, we don’t only witness Christ to people; we also witness to spirits.
Pay attention to Ephesians 3:8-10, where the Apostle describes the witness of Christ:
“To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ and to make all see what is the fellowship of the mystery, which from the beginning of the ages has been hidden in God who created all things through Jesus Christ; to the intent that now the manifold wisdom of God might be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in the heavenly places.”
As you determine to witness daily through preaching, activate the power first before hitting the streets to evangelize. Be purposeful in declaring that when you witness Christ through preaching, you gain a hearing that leads to conversation; declare that the power of God is present to heal and dislodge demons from the people you contact.
At other times, when you intercede, yield your heart to the heart of the Lord so that the Holy Ghost can lay the Lord’s interests on your heart to pray about. When you are praying in sync with the Lord, you are witnessing Christ to spirits. In the spiritual realm, intercession is like conducting an aerial bombardment to register the sovereign will of the Lord. Rebellious spirits are put on notice to vacate spaces and people if the bombardment is sustained long enough, and soon, manifestations begin to occur in the physical realm.
This is why, as a believer, you must be able to speak with other tongues. There is no substitute for it. The more copiously you speak, the more expansive your witness can be. Follow Paul's example, who in his letter to the entire Corinthian church said, “I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all” (1 Corinthians 14:18). What a statement!
Get to activating the power of your witness, every so often.
Have a great day!
Faith-Filled Confession:
I am Christ's witness, endowed with power from on high. Therefore, I am conscious to activate the power of my witness every day, bringing the sovereignty of Christ to the awareness of all in my domain. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
