“Offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship.”
(Romans 12:1)
It is possible to serve God and still miss His heart.
We can be busy in ministry, active in church, and helpful to others—yet slowly drift into serving out of habit instead of surrender. God is not only concerned with what we do for Him; He cares deeply about how and why we do it.
Romans 12:1 reminds us that true service begins with offering ourselves completely to God. Before He asks for our gifts, He asks for our hearts. Serving the Lord the right way always starts with surrender.
When we serve from surrender:
We don’t seek applause.
We don’t compare ourselves to others.
We don’t quit when unnoticed.
We don’t serve only when it is convenient.
Jesus said in John 4:24 that true worshipers worship “in spirit and in truth.” Our service must be sincere—flowing from the Spirit—and aligned with God’s Word. Passion without truth misleads. Truth without passion becomes lifeless. God desires both.
Take a moment today to examine your heart:
Am I serving out of love or obligation?
Am I depending on God or on my own strength?
Would I still serve if no one noticed?
Serving the Lord the right way is not about visibility—it is about faithfulness. What is done with a surrendered heart, even in secret, is precious to Him.
This month of March, God is calling each of us to serve. Most importantly, He is calling us to serve the right way—in spirit and in truth.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Words
Today I declare:
I am a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. My life belongs to Him. My service flows from surrender, not obligation. I do not seek applause, recognition, or position—I seek the approval of my Father in heaven.
My mind is renewed by the Word of God. I am not conformed to this world; I am transformed by His truth. I serve in spirit and in truth. The Holy Spirit empowers me. The Word of God guides me.
I serve with humility. I serve with love. I serve with endurance. Even when unseen, I remain faithful. Even when unrecognized, I stay steadfast. God sees my obedience, and that is enough.
My service brings glory to God. My heart is aligned with His will. And I will hear, “Well done,” because I serve the Lord the right way.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
