THE ESSENSE OF PRAYER

“As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you...” (1 Samuel 12:23)
There is nothing mysterious about success, especially to the child of God. The very life you have in Christ is a testament of Christ’s success over hell and death. Meaning, your life is an epitome of the victory of Christ and a manifestation that the work of Christ is a done deal. You have an eternal victory, such that cannot be reversed. Hallelujah! As far as God is concerned, this life does not have the ability to fail or suffer defeat. I know that there are many who will dismiss this as a light fancy gospel that lacks substance. But hear me, there is nothing that is light weight about the gospel, if you would take time to study the WORD for yourself. It will amaze you to find out that most things you heard and thought sounded scriptural, in fact have no root in the WORD. If you study 2 Corinthians 2:14 reading the amplified version, it reads “But thanks be to God, Who in Christ always leads us in triumph [as trophies of Christ’s victory] and through us spreads and makes evident the fragrance of the knowledge of God everywhere.” Christianity is the WORD alive. It is an exhibition of WORD.
Until we embrace the totality of this new person in Christ with our spirits and be bold enough to walk in the light of it, our prayers would continue to be filled with “give me, give me,” because my father named me “give-me.” Brothers and Sisters, prayer is too beautiful and sacred to be confined to “give me, give me Lord.” The essence of prayer was not to be a means of asking God for material things, but to open our hearts to God. And in speaking with Him, and living with Him and through Him, we are in perpetual communion. It is a continued unqualified committal to God. You truly cannot say that you are living for God without a continued and effective prayer life.
An effective prayer life is that prayer that is according to the WORD. It is that prayer that always brings about the demonstration of the supernatural in our lives and in the lives of others when prayed in faith and in the name of Jesus. If whenever you pray, all that you pray about is for your needs to be met, it simply means that you do not have a consistent and effective prayer life and likely don't know who you are in Christ Jesus. However, when you are awake to the reality of who you are in Christ Jesus, then you will realize that “all things are yours” (1 Corinthians 3:21). Hallelujah!
Think about this for a moment. You met a fellow at the parking lot pleading with tears in his eyes, praying for God to have mercy and grant him the Range Rover that was parked on lot 2. After inquiring to see if anyone knew who owned the Range Rover that this fellow was referring to, you were told that the vehicle was registered to the same fellow who was pleading and crying to God. This fellow can cry all that he wants, but God is not going to give him that car, because He already did.
Brothers and Sister, there is no perceived need that God has not made provision for in Christ Jesus. So, instead of praying, “give me, give me” prayer. Start thanking and worshipping God for what He has done in Christ Jesus for you. Instead of asking Him to do something for you, ask Him what He would have you to do for Him.
When you pray, don’t run off without hearing what God has to say. Frank Laubach once said, “The trouble with nearly everybody who prays is that he says ‘Amen’ and runs away before God has a chance to reply. Listening to God is far more important than giving Him our ideas.”
Get excited about praying today, listen to what He has to say and whatever He says to you be it, do it and proclaim to the people of the earth the benefits of doing the WORD.
God Bless YOU
