“This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.”
— 1 Corinthians 4:1–2
Have you ever paused to consider the reality that nothing you possess truly belongs to you? Everything you have—your children, homes, businesses, resources, influence—has been entrusted to you by God. You are not an owner; you are a steward. James 1:17 affirms this truth: “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
If this is so, then God rightly has a say in how you administer what He has placed in your hands. And make no mistake—there is a day coming when every steward will give an account. You will answer not only for what you possessed, but for how you used those resources to advance the gospel and the purposes of God.
Jesus illustrated this sobering truth in the parable of the talents. The servant who buried his talent believed he had a reasonable excuse: “I was afraid… so I hid your money” (Matthew 25:25, MSG). But the master rejected that excuse and judged him unfaithful. Playing it safe was not faithfulness—it was disobedience. Likewise, Jesus warns in Revelation 3:16 that lukewarm stewardship is unacceptable to Him.
If God will hold us accountable for material blessings, how much more will He require an account for His anointingupon our lives? Jesus said in Matthew 12:36 that every idle word will be accounted for. This tells us that nothing entrusted to us—spiritual or natural—escapes divine evaluation.
Child of God, the power of God upon your life was not given for material acquisition or personal display. It was given for the salvation of souls. Heaven is not moved by houses, cars, or titles—heaven rejoices over souls. Jesus said, “There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner who repents” (Luke 15:10). Just as servants were entrusted with talents, you have been entrusted with the anointing of the Holy Spirit for soul-winning and kingdom impact.
So, what answer will you give if you stand before the Master today? What will you say concerning the lives within your reach—the souls God placed under your influence? Will you explain away the darkness that thrived on your watch in your home, marriage, community, or relationships? The anointing was not given merely for spiritual experiences or outward expressions. It was given to dispel darkness, destroy yokes, lift burdens, and beautify lives with the grace and love of God.
God has anointed you to make a difference—and He will hold every steward accountable for what happened on their watch. But there is a better way to prepare for that day. Let your life proclaim the gospel. Let your words, actions, and priorities reflect kingdom advancement. Then, when you stand before Him, you will hear the words every faithful steward longs to hear:
“Well done, good and faithful steward of heavenly resources.”
Faith-Filled Confession
My eyes are open to see opportunities to communicate the gospel. I will not withhold words that bring light and salvation. I will be faithful in my assignment to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ to those within my reach. Amen.
