“The Lord looks down from heaven upon the children of men, to see if there are any who understand, who seek God.” (Psalm 14:2)
God has needs. There are things within our possession—both tangible and intangible—that the Lord has need of. Jesus demonstrated this clearly when He instructed His disciples to untie the colt for His triumphant entry into Jerusalem. He told them, “If anyone asks why you are doing this, say, ‘The Lord has need of it’” (Mark 11:3). The owner released the colt without resistance, and prophecy was fulfilled.
In the same way, God has need of what He has already placed in your hands. Your house, your car, your family, your voice, your influence, your talents, your skills, your resources—none of these were given to you for personal comfort alone. They are tools for advancing the kingdom of God. The question is not whether God has a need; the question is whether we are willing to release what He calls for.
But beyond possessions and abilities, God also has need of your prayers. John Wesley famously said, “God does nothing but by prayer, and everything with it.” This truth may seem difficult to grasp, but it reveals how God has chosen to operate in the earth. He has established principles He will not violate. Though He is sovereign, He has delegated authority to man, and He waits for our cooperation through prayer before acting.
Scripture confirms this. In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God makes it clear that His intervention is triggered by the prayers of His people. Psalm 14:2 tells us that God looks across the earth, searching for those who understand and seek Him. Why does God search for such people? Because He works through them. Heaven moves when earth gives permission.
God desires that all men be saved (1 Timothy 2:4), yet salvation will not occur apart from human participation. This is why intercession is critical. In 2 Chronicles 16:9, the Bible says that the eyes of the Lord run to and fro throughout the earth, seeking to show Himself strong on behalf of those whose hearts are fully aligned with His. A heart that is perfect toward God is one that beats for what God cares about—the salvation and transformation of souls.
God is looking for men and women who will stand in the gap. Those who will pray for their families, cities, nations, and the world. Those who will refuse to allow darkness to advance unchecked in their spiritual jurisdiction. When such people pray, God moves with power.
So take your place. Lift your voice. Intercede. As you do, you will witness God move in ways that defy logic and expectation.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Confession
I am alive to my responsibility as an intercessor. I stand in the gap for my family, my community, and my nation. I refuse to allow the agenda of hell to prevail in my spiritual jurisdiction. Through prayer, I give God access, and His will is established to His glory. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
