"Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour" (1 Peter 5:8).
Every time God speaks over us, the adversary attempts to distort the Word we've received, seeking to rob God of His glory through us. This tactic echoes the deception used in the Garden of Eden when the enemy stealthily inserted a corrupted version of God's message into Eve, leading humanity into his tyranny. A similar ploy was employed against Jesus, but he remained vigilant and thwarted the scheme. Peter cautioned through the Holy Spirit in 1 Peter 5:8, "Be alert and of sober mind. Your adversary, the Devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour."
God has declared that this month is our season for growth, a time to manifest the character of the Holy Ghost. As is typical of Satan, be prepared for him to launch every possible attack against you. He recognizes that your growth this month will disrupt his agenda, and the manifestation of the Holy Spirit's character through you will wreak havoc in hell. Therefore, expect his tactics, which may take the form of discouragement and drama, aimed at hindering your progress. I urge you to heighten your spiritual alertness because you cannot afford to miss out on God's best for you in this season. Isaiah 54:15 reassures us, "Behold, they shall surely gather together, but not by Me: whosoever shall gather together against thee shall fall for thy sake." Although Satan may attempt to come against you, you must not contribute to his success. He is destined to fail, and in your life, he will indeed fail. In Jesus' name. Amen.
The Message translation renders 1 Peter 5:8 this way: "Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up." In essence, Satan can only seize an opportunity when you deviate from God's Word, allowing negative emotions like unhealthy anger, frustration, and depression to take root.
Jesus gave a parable about the kingdom, saying, "The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew." It's crucial to note that the enemy struck when the workers were asleep, signifying a relaxation of their hold on the Word. Similarly, when we become careless with our speech or lose awareness of our identities, we inadvertently provide the enemy access to our hearts to sow corruption.
Confessing fear, inability, weakness, uncertainty, lack, sickness, or hopelessness creates an entry point for Satan's attack. For instance, responding to a question about your well-being with, "I just hate my life right now," serves as an invitation for Satan to pounce. Even when circumstances seem overwhelming, and it appears that all is lost, remember, it's not the end! Recognize the voice of the Devil in such moments and silence him promptly.
In a nutshell, stay vigilant and resist allowing incorrect information or negative confessions into your spirit. Commit yourself wholeheartedly to personal growth. Despite Satan's attempts to distract you, make a firm decision to embrace God's best for your life this month. Resolve to walk in the character of the Holy Ghost this month.
Faith-Filled Confession:
I refuse to give a foothold to the adversary. I stand my ground on the immovable Word of God, making it my dwelling place. The Word increases in me and prevails over every circumstance, In Jesus' name, Amen.
