MEDITATION IS WORK

03/05/2024

"Then the LORD said to Moses, “Make a fiery serpent, and set it on a pole; and it shall be that everyone who is bitten, when he looks at it, shall live. So Moses made a bronze serpent, and put it on a pole; and so it was, if a serpent had bitten anyone, when he looked at the bronze serpent, he lived" (Numbers 21:8-9).

Meditating on the Word of God is not supposed to be fun, even though it can be fun. Your foremost approach to meditation must be that it is your Christian duty. It is a job with one objective: the salvation of your soul. James 1:21 tells us how to go about this. It says, "Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls." Your heart is the ground and before you start planting the word of God in your heart, you've got to let go of covetousness, bitterness, malice and every other wickedness that may have latched itself to your heart.

Your ability to do the Word of God and prosper with it, is hinged on how carefully you carry out the work of meditation which is why the enemy will do everything to dissuade you from seeing any value in doing it. James 1:22-24 says, "But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was." He or she forgets the manner of person beheld in the mirror of God's word for failing to do the work of meditation.

Now the technology of meditation is this. When you ponder, mutter, declare, visualize and roar the word of God to yourself, you are performing a second hearing and I will explain. Romans 10:17 says, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." When you hear the word of God preached, you hear it with your outer ear and science can attest to this. What you gain when you hear with your outer ear is an understanding or belief. Romans 10:14 says, "How then shall they call on Him in whom they have not believed? And how shall they believe in Him of whom they have not heard? And how shall they hear without a preacher?" This is the first hearing and many do not get past this stage of hearing.

But when you meditate, you hear with your inner ear and this provides you with a self image. This is why you cannot say anything negative about yourself. Your tongue is how you write the code of your self-image. The Psalmist says, "My heart is inditing a good matter: I speak of the things which I have made touching the king: my tongue is the pen of a ready writer." With the second hearing, you are rewriting the code of your self-image, and this is why it is work.

James 1:25 says, "But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does." The forgetful hearer is the one who doesn't do the work of meditation. And the one who meditates day and night is the one who is blessed in what he does.

Psalm 1:1-3 says, "Blessed is the man Who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, Nor stands in the path of sinners, Nor sits in the seat of the scornful; But his delight is in the law of the LORD, And in His law he meditates day and night. He shall be like a tree Planted by the rivers of water, That brings forth its fruit in its season, Whose leaf also shall not wither; And whatever he does shall prosper."

If you do the work of meditating, what you think, say and do will be so curated by the word of God that it would be impossible not to prosper. Do the work and claim supernatural victories this year.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession

Blessed am I because I do not walk in the counsel of the ungodly. I do not stand in the path of sinners and I do not sit in the seat of the scornful. However, my delight is in the Word of God and in His Holy Word I meditate day and night. Therefore, I am like a tree planted by the rivers of waters, that brings forth its fruits in its season, whose leaf also does not wither. And whatever I do propers. In the matchless Name of the Lord Jesus. Amen!'
