LET GOD BE TRUE

09/26/2023

"... Indeed, let God be true, but every man a liar. As it is written: "That You may be justified in Your words, And may overcome when You are judged" (Romans 3:4).

There is a certainty that the believer in Christ must maintain. And in your mind, this certainty must have both emotional and ethical appeal. This certainty is that whatever God has said in His holy written Word is true, irrespective of any opinions to the contrary. You should have this certainty because the final arbiter and judge of any information you will ever contact in this world is the LORD, who knows everything. Colossians 1:16-17 tells us, "For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist." The general import of this is that God's word is final to describe any person, place, or situation, irrespective of what your eyes, other people, and even public opinion say about it.

For example, God's word tells us what success in life for any human person should be. Romans 8:29 says, "For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren." You have been destined to be and do everything that was recorded about Jesus in the Bible. The truth about who is a success as a human being and who is not is settled by Romans 8:29, and not by a net worth or other worldly qualification or accolade. If, as a human person, you have not attained what I call "Son of God" status, you are still a work in progress.

On this matter of letting God be true and every man a liar, would you consider some of the acolytes and celebrities that often get glamorized as successes? I don't think so. Rather, if we were to use God's truthful standards as a measure for them and ourselves, there should be tears flowing about how far off from His mark a gap exists.

What I am saying is that that house may be important to acquire; the degree too, and all the trappings of making progress, but not by God's standards. Saints, as there is a gap between who we are and who the Lord sees us to be, there should be yearning and tears for what is possible. If you haven't raised the dead like Jesus, walked on water like Jesus, touched lives like Jesus, and solved problems like Jesus, there is always something to ask the Father for.

What's more, Jesus raises the bar for us so much that we shouldn't be measuring ourselves by the world's standards. He says, "Truly, truly I say to you, the one who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will do also; and greater works than these he will do; because I am going to the Father" (John 14:12). He has since gone to be with the Father, and now, attaining your "Son of God" potential is up to you.

As you meditate on this devotional today, I want you to ask God to help you see you as He sees you.

Have a perfect day!

Faith-Filled Confession

I am who God has said I am. My potential cannot be determined or measured outside the frame of my maker. And because He has said, I was born to be conformed to the image of the Son of God, I say yes and so conduct myself from this day onwards. In Jesus' name. Amen

Prayer Points

Praying for the spread of God's vision in the nations

Psalm 67:2 T LB "Send us around the world with the news of your saving power and your eternal plan for all mankind."

Psalm 68:11 " The Lord gave the word: great was the company of those that published it.

Habakkuk 2:14 – For the earth shall be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. "

At our scheduled prayer times today, we'll pray mostly in tongues of the Spirit and pray specially for the work of churches and ministries around the world.

Pray that they fulfill their God-given assignments, remain fervent and passionate about their work and calling, richly supplied with all they require, focused, fearless, bold, and inspired for ever-increasing impact of the gospel.

Pray that their ministry will be received with Joy by those whom God has sent them to. Declare that cities and nations are open unto them.

Declare every opposition against them ineffective; that through their work, the kingdom of God expands exceedingly, and is established in the hearts of men, that the name of our Blessed Lord be glorified. Amen.
