“Let the Word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord” (Colossians 3:16).
Too often, many believers are reactionary. They wait for problems to arise before running to God’s Word for solutions. While that can bring relief, God has a better way—living on the offense through the Word. Our opening verse instructs us to let the Word of Christ dwell in us richly. This means being so full of the Word that we respond from wisdom, not react from emotions.
Being full of the Word doesn’t happen automatically because you are a Christian. It requires intentionality—daily meditation, confession, and practice of the Scriptures. A believer who keeps the Word richly stored in their heart cannot be shaken by trials. Instead, challenges become opportunities to blossom and shine. But the Christian who starves their spirit is vulnerable. Outwardly they may look strong, but spiritually they are malnourished, showing signs of anger, unforgiveness, contention, and strife (Galatians 5:19–21).
Beloved, examine yourself. Are you daily feeding on the Word, or are you trying to live on the memory of a study from years ago? Yesterday’s manna cannot sustain today’s battles. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God” (Matthew 4:4). Likewise, God told Joshua, “Keep this Book of the Law always on your lips; meditate on it day and night…then you will be prosperous and successful” (Joshua 1:8).
Think of the Word as seed. Genesis 8:22 assures us that “seedtime and harvest shall not cease.” Every time you study, listen to, and confess the Word, you are sowing spiritual seed. The harvest is supernatural ability, victory, and radiance. This is why John wrote, “This is the victory that overcomes the world—even our faith” (1 John 5:4). A Word-filled Christian is always radiant, always victorious, and always glowing with the life of God.
Stay full of the Word. Speak it, meditate on it, and let it shape your response to life. That’s how you keep the glow and walk in victory every day.
You are blessed!
Faith-Filled Confession:
I keep God’s Word before my eyes and on my lips. It dwells richly in my heart, bringing life to my spirit, mind, and body. Today, I declare I am healthy, my mind is sound, the joy of the Lord is my strength, and my youth is renewed in Jesus’ name. Amen.
