DON’T GIVE UP, YOU CAN DO THIS

"I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]" (Philippians 4:13 AMP)



Our text says, “I can do all things [which He has called me to do.]”  It then goes on to say, “Through Him who strengthens and empowers me to fulfill His purpose.” In other words, Christ’s backing is for those things that He has called us to do. Whatever assignment He has given to you, He will back and will enable you to complete. So, if you find yourself in a position where you feel like you are not making any headway, begin by asking yourself this question: “Has God asked me to do this? Or am I doing this on my own?” If you can honestly answer that question, it will bring you liberation. If you realize that you have stepped out of God’s will and have tried to function on your own, repent and seek His counsel. If you are certain that you are in the center of God’s will for your life, then rejoice no matter the situation.



I love the attitude of Apostle Paul. He said, “For I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances.  I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through Him who gives me strength” (Philippians 4:11-13). In simple terms, Apostle Paul was saying, “I have learned how to live above situations and circumstances. I do not allow what I face or what I am confronted with to affect my joy and peace because I have got what it takes.” What a mindset! This is someone who had a revelation of the working of Christ in Him. He had the mindset of a victor. He didn’t blame anyone when things got tough. He simply looked inside; realizing that He had what was needed to overcome. 



John the Baptist, on the other hand, did not have this revelation.  When he found Himself in jail, he sent his disciples to ask Jesus, "Are you the one who is to come, or should we expect someone else?” (Matthew 11:3) By John’s words, he was saying to Jesus, “I see you moving in the lives of others, but why aren’t you doing something about my situation?” Jesus’ response to John was very telling; it provided a great revelation about John that even John was ignorant of.  Jesus said in Matthew 11:11, “Assuredly, I say to you, among those born of women there has not risen one greater than John the Baptist…” That is to say, John was greater than all the prophets of old, including Elijah who was able to raise the dead and call down fire from Heaven. Jesus was pretty much saying, “John doesn’t really need Me. His problem is that he does not have a revelation of who he is or what it is that he carries.” Then Jesus went on to say in the latter part of verse 11, “…but he who is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he (John).” In other words, the one who you may consider to be least in the kingdom of God; the one who just got saved and knows no scripture is greater than John the Baptist. And if John the Baptist was greater than all the prophets of old, the least in the kingdom is greater than them all and has the ability to exceed all that they ever were able to do. Hallelujah! 



Child of God, you must have a revelation of the Christ in you. He is the reason why you have what it takes. He is the reason why you can flourish no matter the circumstance. Acknowledge His presence in you and reign like the king that you are.
