DON’T FORGET HOW

4/21/2026

“Although you were once small in your own eyes, did you not become the head of the tribes of Israel? The Lord anointed you king over Israel.” — 1 Samuel 15:17

Promotion is a blessing from God—but if not handled correctly, it can become a stumbling block. Many rise by grace, yet fall because they forget the very things that brought them up.

When elevation comes, there is a temptation to shift from dependence on God to confidence in self. What was once done in humility can slowly be replaced by pride, and the grace that lifted a person can be unintentionally set aside.

Scripture shows us that it is possible to frustrate the grace of God—to neglect or abandon the very foundation of our increase. The same faithfulness, obedience, and humility that opened doors must be maintained to sustain them.

Consider Saul. He did not begin as a proud man. He started small in his own eyes—humble and dependent on God. But over time, he lost sight of that posture. Pride crept in, and he drifted from obedience. What began as honor eventually turned into dishonor.

This is the warning and the wisdom for today:

Don’t forget how God elevated you.

Remember where God brought you from. Remember the posture of your heart when He first lifted you. Stay grounded in that same humility, that same obedience, that same dependence on Him.

Examine your heart. Stay aligned with His Word. Guard against pride in every form.

Because the truth is—there is more ahead. Greater opportunities, greater favor, greater manifestations of God’s power are coming. And the key to walking fully in them is remaining in the right position before God.

Child of God, stay humble. Stay faithful. Stay aligned.

Let your life continue to reflect the grace that lifted you.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession:

My life reflects God’s grace and faithfulness. I remain humble, obedient, and aligned with His Word. The same grace that elevated me sustains me, and my life continues to bring glory to God. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
