“For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind” (2 Timothy 1:7).
Many times you read in the Bible, “Fear not!” To Abram, God said, “Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward” (Genesis 15:1). He said to Joshua, “Fear not, neither be thou dismayed” (Joshua 8:1). To Jairus, Jesus said, "Fear not; only believe…” (Mark 5:36). Why do the Scriptures repeatedly tell us not to fear? It is because we have the ability to stop fear. You see, fear is not just an emotion or a feeling. Fear is a spirit and it is not of God. It must be ruthlessly dealt with, just like any other spirit that is not of God.
Here’s one thing about fear. Fear thrives in darkness. We tend to fear what we do not know or what we have been misinformed about. This is why people fear when they receive a negative diagnosis. They fear because they are not sure what’s going to become of them, and how the negative diagnosis will affect their lives. But when you have a revelation of who God is and an understanding of what His Word means, you can go to sleep even after receiving a negative diagnosis.
Let’s examine the encounter of Jairus with Jesus in Mark 5. Jairus came to Jesus in faith, knowing that Jesus had what it took to heal his daughter who was at the point of death. Then certain folks came from Jairus’ house to give him news that was packed with fear and death. They said to him, “…Thy daughter is dead: why troublest thou the Master any further?” (Mark 5:35) When Jesus heard those words, He understood what was going on. He knew the power of those words to bring fear which ultimately could bring death. He knew that the news could destroy Jairus’ faith if not addressed immediately. So Jesus said to Jairus, "Fear not; only believe…” In other words, STOP THE FEAR! You see, if you don’t checkmate fear at the point of entry, you allow it to express itself in all sorts of ways: anxiety, sickness, lack, and ultimately death. What was Jesus’ solution? He told Jairus, “ONLY BELIEVE.” The very reason Jairus came to Jesus in the first place was that he believed Jesus could do something about his daughter. So, Jesus pointed Jairus back to faith. He helped Jairus remember the stories he may have heard about Jesus healing others or the encounters that He had witnessed. Ultimately, Jesus was pointing Jairus back to the Word.
While you cannot escape being faced with fear, you can choose to deny fear access into your life. And you do this by shining the light of God’s Word on the darkness. With the Word, you expose the unknown and correct the misinformation. When it comes to your health, the Word of God is already revealed. 1 Peter 2:24 says, “Who His own self bare our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes YE WERE HEALED.”
The truth is, you are healed. Any other information suggesting otherwise is false. Choose to align yourself with the truth by affirming it over your life. Don't wait for symptoms to arise before declaring that you are the healed of the Lord. The same applies to feelings of insufficiency, disappointment, and so forth. Regardless of the circumstance, refuse to succumb to fear or worry.
Faith Filled Confession:
I refuse to agree with any other voice but the voice of God and His voice declares that I am healed. So, I boldly declare that I am the healed of the Lord. I live each day in health and strength, in Jesus' name, Amen.
Prayers
Begin with thanksgiving and praise to God.
Pray against fear, violence, wickedness, and all forms of disruption and terror masquerading as peaceful protest in support of the Palestinian people on campus across the United States.
Pray that all malicious and antichrist policies and laws, crafted to hinder the gospel on campuses be voided; and that the name of the Lord be glorified in institutions of higher learning.
