"You who have escaped the sword, Get away! Do not stand still! Remember the LORD afar off, And let Jerusalem come to your mind." (Jeremiah 51:50)
Jerusalem is a metaphor for a higher dimension. The rest of the world may approach life from a level plain, but we were born on the mountain, and on the mountain, everything is plain as day for our grasp. Galatians 4:25-26 says, "...for this Hagar is Mount Sinai in Arabia, and corresponds to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children—but the Jerusalem above is free, which is the mother of us all."
Today's theme scripture is very instructive about how we ought to approach everything in our lives. It's a call away from operating on a level playing field as others do, from operating in the realm of trial and error, where you try something to see if it will work or not. And in some cases, you try someone to see if they are compatible or not. The scripture to you today is to get away from such. Do not behave like the rest of the world. Remember where the LORD is, and let Jerusalem come to your mind.
So where is the LORD? The Bible says He is "far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come" (Ephesians 1:21). And where are you? The Bible says, God "raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus,"
Now when He says, "Let Jerusalem come to your mind," He is inadvertently asking us to "Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth" (Colossians 3:2). Deal with the issues of this life from the throne room of God where you are seated.
For example, this is one way we can let Jerusalem come to our minds; by laughing in the face of adversity. The Bible says that when the kings of the earth (and it doesn't just mean earthly kings but principalities, powers, and the rulers of the darkness of this age) take counsel against you, "He who sits in the heavens shall laugh; The Lord shall hold them in derision." (Psalm 2:4). That's you, not God.
The Lord says, remember where you are and start laughing.
Be blessed today.
Faith-Filled Confession:
I acknowledge my throne room advantages as God's anointed and therefore laugh at every scheme of the enemy to try to put me down. I am a victor, triumphant in all things, and there is absolutely nothing the enemy can do about it in Jesus' name. Amen
