BE A PEACEMAKER, NOT A DIVIDER

8/8/2025

“So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up” (Romans 14:19 NLT).

Divisiveness is evil at its core—rooted in selfishness and pride. No divided home, ministry, or business thrives under God’s grace. Why? Because the Spirit of God will not manifest in an atmosphere that tolerates discord.

Psalm 133:1-3 paints the picture clearly: “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony! … And there the LORD has pronounced His blessing, even life everlasting.” Prosperity, divine favor, and long life flow in the place of unity.

In 2 Corinthians 2:11, Paul warns us not to be outwitted by Satan, specifically in the context of forgiveness. As God’s children, peace-making is not optional—it’s a lifestyle. Knowledge of the Word that does not lead to peace with others is empty knowledge.

One practical application: Never tolerate speaking ill of others—especially ministers of the gospel. Proverbs 6:16-19 lists “sowing discord among brethren” as an abomination to God. Words that tear down God’s anointed are fueled by an evil spirit—often without the speaker even realizing it. If someone comes to you with such speech, respond with wisdom: direct them to address their concern privately with the person involved, just as Jesus taught in Matthew 18:15-17.

Neutrality or silence in the face of gossip is not peacemaking—it is silent agreement. If you’ve spoken ill of someone, humble yourself: apologize to them and ask God for forgiveness. This is for your own prosperity, peace, and spiritual well-being.

If you’ve been wronged, forgive quickly. Pray for the increase of God’s will in the life of the one who hurt you. Never pray for their downfall. Let love be your lens.

Faith-Filled Confession:

Father, in the name of Jesus, I choose the path of peace, love, and forgiveness. My words build up and never tear down. I will not speak ill of anyone, regardless of how I’m treated. I am a peacemaker, and Your blessing rests on me. Hallelujah!
