"Not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others." Philippians 2:4
Walking in offense is earthly, unspiritual and demonic. (James 3:14-15). I hear someone say, “you don’t know the pain that so and so have cost me” But the scripture says that offense is demonic. I wish I can tell you that you have every right to walk in offense but that will be a lie. Jesus said in Matthew 11:6 “And blessed is the one who is not offended by me.” In other words, walking in offense is an expression of a demonic spirit. Better still, it has nothing to do with ill treatments dealt you. Besides, Jesus said “Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you” Matthew 5:44
Listen saints, there is no justification for harboring offense in your heart. Sadly many are in bondage to this spirit of offense. They fault the behavior of others as a way to justify their bondage to this spirit. But the devil is a lair! Listen, any one of us can walk in offense if we listen to the devil long enough. Look at how Jesus dealt with an opportunity to walk in offense, in John 4:1-3 the scripture says, “When Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard He was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John (although it was not Jesus who baptized, but His disciples), He left Judea and returned to Galilee.” Why did Jesus return to Galilee? He did so because somethings are not worth fighting over when you look at them from a vantage point of your destiny. To Jesus, if crowd size is going to bring division. I am going outside of John territory for the sake of my and John's disciples. Does that mean that you should change your job or church each time you sense strife or offense? A thousand times no! That in itself could be playing into the hands of the enemy. But If God has planted you in a place, and you sense that evil called offense, get on your knees until such spirit is driven out in Jesus name. But to become indifferent and acting weird (not speaking to people) is offensive to God.
Saints, just because someone has an attitude towards you at your job or at your local church, does not justify you responding to them in like manner. Your role is that of a peace maker. So don’t back away or become indifferent under the pretense of “let peace reign”. Peace may appear to reign; however, such peace is false and can hinder progress, stunt growth and promote strife as the order of the day.
Saints, we must be sensitive to the Spirit, in recognizing division, strife and self-seeking demons. And address them by the power of the Holy Ghost. If your desire is to grow in God and fulfill all that God has in store for you, then you must genuinely believe and seek out the best in others especially those that offend you. Without doing this, you cannot walk in the true riches of the Holy Ghost. There are depths and heights in God which are out of reach to those who fight or walk in offense toward others, especially in the house of God. They may not show it, but within themselves, they have decided not to offer support to you. And if you ever find yourself in a place where you resent others no matter what they have said or done to you, you must seek immediate help. Cry out to God and repent because such feeling is a sign of bitterness and strife and opens you up as an available vessel to be used by Satan to work all kinds of evil in your home, job or church. People are not perfect, make room for their error. Let your love be bigger than their weakness.
God bless you!
Faith-Filled Confession:
Devil, don’t count on me walking in offense today. In Jesus name.
