THE SPIRIT UPON VS SPIRIT WITHIN

"The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon Me Because the LORD has anointed Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn..." (Isaiah 61:1-2)

The Spirit of God anoints you in two separate streams, and it pays to know the difference. There is the "upon anointing" which is typically for ministering to others and there is the "within anointing" which is for your spiritual education in the things of God. Both streams are very different in that the "upon anointing" comes to either affirm your call to a public ministry or becomes operational when God wants to move through you in a public. And you find this stream very commonly referred to in the Old Testament, " And the Spirit came upon Samson...Gideon...Elijah...David and so on."

In the New Testament, we see the same dimension of this stream. Acts 10:44-45 says, "While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word. And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also." The "upon anointing " is very public in nature.

The "within anointing" on the other hand, is very private and revelatory. In Isaiah 30:21,  the Bible says, "Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “This is the way, walk in it,” Whenever you turn to the right hand Or whenever you turn to the left." This ability to hear and know things supernaturally is an anointing of the Holy Spirit. 1 John 2:20 says, "But you have an anointing from the Holy One, and you know all things."

Never misconstrue the presence of the "upon anointing" as evidence that you are maturing. The Spirit of God can work miracles through you with the "upon anointing" and still watch you struggle with pain, a difficult relationship or a bad habit for which you haven't taken advantage of the "within anointing". While the "upon anointing" is for public ministry and is often incited by the Holy Spirit, the "within anointing" on the other hand, is for character development and is often accessed via your desire to know more of God.

Maybe you have sensed (spiritually speaking) an impression or physical sensation over the past few weeks. Maybe, you have received new tongues from heaven or some other expression. These manifestations are almost always an indication of the "upon anointing".  The other stream, the "within anointing" will be by promptings in your heart related to specialized knowledge of the word of God.

Pray against every satanic distractions and roadblocks concerning your life in the year 2023.

Pray against the spirit of disobedience, fear and pride from taking root in your soul this year. 

In addition, pray that God will cause you to be mindful of Him even as He prospers and advance you in every area of your lives this year. Matthew 6:22-23, 1 Corinthians 16:9, Deuteronomy 8:12-18, Deuteronomy 28:47, Acts 26:19

Faith-Filled Confession

I discern both streams of the anointing of the Holy Spirit as revealed in the word of God. And as I do this,  my responses to the Holy Spirit for ministry to others and personal character development are in line with my perception of the anointing from time to time. Glory
