"Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” (Psalm 139:14)
As believers in Christ, our lives should reflect peace, joy, and fulfillment. Yet, too many of us struggle with deep-seated insecurities that often manifest in pride, overworking, and the need to control. For some, the drive to be productive is a mask for hidden fears—fear of rejection, fear of being unseen or unvalued. This fear pushes them to chase titles and achievements, seeking validation from others. They believe that acceptance is tied to their performance or status. However, this mindset is dangerous. Left unchecked, it can lead to burnout, health issues, and the loss of divine connections God intended for your life.
I once heard of a pastor who tragically ended his own life because he felt rejected by his congregation and family. This issue of insecurity is more widespread than we often realize. But as children of God, we are called to live differently. 1 Peter 5:7 reminds us, “Cast all your anxiety on Him because He cares for you.” If you’re feeling unseen, unvalued, or rejected, bring that to the Lord. Don’t let insecurity color your perception—because when you do, you’re likely to misinterpret the intentions and words of those around you. Perhaps your boss didn’t pursue your idea for reasons you don’t know, yet you take it as a personal rejection. This mindset builds stress, bitterness, and can lead to depression.
Let’s break free from this cycle by grounding ourselves in God’s truth. Don’t expect everyone to like or approve of you. Jesus Himself warned in Luke 6:26, “Woe to you when everyone speaks well of you, for that is how their ancestors treated the false prophets.” Rejection, whether of you as a person or of your ideas, is not a cause for bitterness or despair. Jesus, our perfect example, was rejected too, yet He kept loving and serving even those who turned away from Him.
See yourself through the lens of God’s Word, not the approval of people. Psalm 139:14 declares, “Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.” God created you intentionally and beautifully, and He is the One who defines your worth.
If you are struggling with feelings of insecurity, I encourage you to seek wise counsel, spend time fasting, and immerse yourself in God’s Word. Let His truth reshape how you see yourself. You are worthy of living a joyful, fulfilled life—Jesus gave His life so you could have it.
God Bless You!
Faith-Filled Confession:
I am secure in Christ. My identity is found in Him. I am content in who He made me to be. I am loved, accepted, and cherished by God. I have nothing to prove—Jesus has already done everything necessary. My value is shown in the price Jesus paid for me, and that is enough.
