LET THIS MIND BE IN YOU WHICH WAS IN CHRIST JESUS

5/6/2025

“Have this way of thinking in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although existing in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, by taking the form of a slave, by being made in the likeness of men.” (Phillippians 2:5-7)

The soul winner must come to terms with abandoning any reputation to share the gospel. Every status you have. Every position you have been given and every qualification you have earned must take a backseat to your role as a servant of Jesus Christ, in whose service, we are called to share the gospel.

Writing to the Phillipians, Paul writes “Yet indeed I also count all things loss for the excellence of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and count them as rubbish, that I may gain Christ” Until you see your earthly status and accomplishments as dung, it would be difficult to accomplish the work that the Lord has set before you.

Why? The Bible says, ““No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon” (Matthew 6:24). Many have misconstrued Mammon to mean, “money.” But if you contextualize what Jesus said with the whole body of scripture, you will realize that Mammon refers to the world’s way of doing and seeing things.

In other words, you cannot see or do things the way the rest of the world sees and does, and still  serve the Lord. Your perspective has got to change.

One of the things that is inextricably tied to your new identity is your function in the kingdom of God. 2 Corinthians 5:17-18 says, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he isa new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.” Everything about this new you is of God, meaning that you are thoroughly equipped to represent Him.

But you must set down every worldly perception of you and it starts with renewing your mind. For example, the Bible says you are a new creation, meaning that you did not exist before. It also says’ all things about you, including you have come from God. So, if you are experiencing something that is not of God, you can insist on its illegality and command it to leave in the name of Jesus.

Your newness of life must mean more to you than any status or accomplishment in this life to be an efficient servant of Jesus. Because, only then can you wholeheartedly follow the leadership of the Holy Spirit  and reject the suggestions of the prince of this world.

And this is something you must do willingly. Jesus said, “Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me. For whoever desires to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it.” (Matthew 16:24-25)

Let him deny himself, means taking the form of a slave like Jesus, whose one focus was the bidding of His Father.

Think about this today and cast aside every reputation for the servanthood of Jesus. Look out for opportunity today to be this servant that shares the plan of the Master with people within your reach.

Have a glorious day, today!

Faith-Filled Confession

I am the love of God to the world around me. It is not His will that any should perish and I am the answer to this will. I am prompted by the Holy Spirit to be the answer to the Father’s will, today. In Jesus’ name. Amen
