“Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” (1 Peter 5:8),
Jesus gave a parable about the kingdom which I believe is paramount and instructional in this season of manifesting grace. In this parable, He said, “The Kingdom of Heaven is like a farmer who planted good seed in his field. But that night as the workers slept, his enemy came and planted weeds among the wheat, then slipped away. When the crop began to grow and produce grain, the weeds also grew.” I want you to observe when the enemy came and planted weed among the wheat. It happened when the workers were asleep. To sleep here could mean to take one's mind away from what the Spirit of God has spoken to you. Mark 4:19 describes it as allowing the worries of this life, the deceitfulness of wealth and the desires for other things to choke the Word; thereby, making it unfruitful. The Apostle Paul painted a vivid picture of what it means to let the devil in. Ephesians 4:27 says, “for when you are angry, you give a mighty foothold to the devil.” And when he gets that foothold, he has only one thing on his mind, and that is to sow as many weeds as possible. And a major problem faced when weeds grow in the midst of wheat is that they compete for the nourishment that was intended for the wheat; which in many instances negatively affects the fruitfulness of the wheat at harvest. Instead of the wheat producing a hundredfold, you find it producing ten-fold and sometimes even less.
So, the Lord is saying to you today: “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” The Message translation puts it this way: “Keep a cool head. Stay alert. The Devil is poised to pounce, and would like nothing better than to catch you napping. Keep your guard up.” The devil only pounces when you wander away from the Word; when you give attention to unedifying materials and conversations, such that do not accord to the reality of God’s Word in Christ Jesus. And nap time is when your confessions are rebellious to the reality of Christ; when you confess fear, inability, weakness, uncertainty, lack, sickness, hopelessness or anything that contradicts the life and nature of God in Christ Jesus. I’ll give you a practical example. You were asked, “How are you doing?” And you respond: “Things are hard but God is on the throne.” Such a confession is nothing short of complaining and is indicative of feelings of hopelessness. The only part of that statement that is believed by such individual is that things are hard. Saying God is on the throne is nothing short of a religious statement. It carries no power.
When a person continues in this manner, it hinders him/her from manifesting grace; it hinders the demonstration of the supernatural. So, pay attention to your confessions and meditations especially this season. Be mindful of what you say and what thoughts you choose to dwell on. Refuse to allow the wrong information into your spirit. Be consistent in declaring God’s Word. It is still your month of the manifestation of grace and your year of the dominion of the Word.
God Bless You!
Faith Filled Confession:
I refuse to give a foothold to the adversary. I stand my ground on the immovable Word of God. I choose to dwell on the Word. My thoughts are inundated by the Word. I speak the Word only. The Word increases in me and prevails over every circumstance, in Jesus name, Amen.
