“…You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill” (Matthew 5:14 MSG).
You are God’s fragrance to the world. Colossians 1:27 says “To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.” The presence of Christ in you is God’s way of dispensing His essence to your world. Better still, you are the God factor in your world. In John 9:5, Jesus made one of the most remarkable statements in all of Scripture, He said, “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” So, now that He is in heaven, He is no longer the light of the world. He is no longer casting out devils or healing the sick. He has given that responsibility you; you are now the light of the world. You are the one with the authority to heal the sick and cast out devils. You are the one who has been anointed to reveal the personality of the Father and to dispense the fragrance of heaven to the people of the earth. In a nutshell, all that Jesus was to this world, you are now. Jesus said to the Father, “I have given them the glory that You gave Me, that they may be one as we are one. I in them and You in Me, that they may become perfectly one, so that the world may know that You sent Me and loved them even as You loved Me” (John 17:22-23). In other words, Jesus did all that He did so that you could take His place in this world and this is why He said to the disciples in Matthew 10:8, “Heal the sick, raise the dead, cure those with leprosy, and cast out demons. Give as freely as you have received!” So, we can no longer expect Jesus to do these things anymore. You cannot even expect Jesus to serve as an intermediary between you and the Father anymore. Because you are now one with Jesus, as Jesus is with one the Father. In John 16:26-27, Jesus said to His disciples, “In that day you will ask in My name. I am not saying that I will ask the Father on your behalf. For the Father Himself loves you, because you have loved Me and have believed that I came from God.” If Jesus is saying that you shouldn’t expect Him to pray to the Father on your behalf, it is because your prayer is just as powerful as His. And if that’s the case, you also do not need to depend on the prayers of anyone–in heaven or on earth—because no one has a more privileged access to the Father. All that you are required to do is to ask in the name of Jesus. When you ask or speak in the name of Jesus, it’s as though Jesus Himself is asking or speaking. Hence, Jesus said, “Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in Me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father” (John 14:12). In essence, Jesus was saying, that if the world thought they saw great things happen by His hand, they hadn’t seen anything yet, because greater manifestations of the power and glory of the Spirit of God are to be expected through you.
God is saying to you today, you are the light of the world. You are not a victim of circumstances. The world is in the dark, but you are not. The world is experiencing shortage and frustration, but you are not. You are in the world to give them surplus and joy. So, get into the flow of your purpose in this world and be an asset to everyone that comes your way today. Let all who meet you today encounter Christ.
God bless you!
Faith Filled Confession:
The radiance of God’s glory is seen in me today. The beauty of His essence is seen in me. The power of His Spirit is made manifest through me. The weight of His grace, love, and mercy are shown through me. I am a living epistle, known and read by all. I will live each day in such a way that the gospel of Christ is effectively communicated through me to those around me.
