ARE YOU A SERVANT OF JESUS CHRIST?

“Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God.” (Romans 1:1)
In our previous devotional, we discussed our obligation in the gospel. Serving God is not something we do out of convenience or spare time. It is a divine responsibility that must take priority in our lives. In serving God, we must adopt the mindset of faithful servants whose greatest desire is to see the will of the Master accomplished.
For some, the word servant may feel uncomfortable. Many prefer to emphasize being sons and daughters of God. While this is true, it does not remove our responsibility to serve. When Jesus said, “I no longer call you servants… but friends”(John 15:15), He was speaking of relationship, not responsibility. Through Christ, we have become sons and daughters who share in the Father’s inheritance (Romans 8:17). However, sons and daughters still carry out the Father’s business.
Even Jesus, the Son of God, chose to surrender His will to the Father and was called God’s servant (Acts 4:30). Moses, Abraham, and many others who walked closely with God were also called His servants. Being a servant does not diminish our sonship; it expresses our devotion to the Father’s will.
The Apostle Paul boldly introduced himself as a servant of Jesus Christ. He understood that his calling as an apostle was simply his way of serving God and building the faith of God’s people (Titus 1:1). His identity was rooted in faithful service to the gospel.
If you were to introduce yourself spiritually, could you confidently say you are a servant of God? What responsibility has God given you in your local church or in reaching your world? As children of God, we serve not for reward, but because the Father’s business is our business. Let your service be joyful, faithful, and wholehearted.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Confession:
I am a child of God and a joint heir with Christ. The Father’s business is my business. I serve faithfully in the ministry of soul winning and discipleship through the ability of God working in me, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
