THE GOSPEL IS YOUR OBLIGATION

2/6/2026

“Necessity is laid upon me; yes, woe is me if I do not preach the gospel!” (1 Corinthians 9:16)

A growing mindset among believers today is what I call convenience Christianity—serving God only when it fits comfortably into one’s schedule. Kingdom service has become optional, something squeezed in after personal priorities are met. Child of God, it ought not to be so. God is not served with leftovers. Our lives should be arranged around His assignment, not the other way around.

The gospel is not a hobby; it is a stewardship. Apostle Paul understood this clearly. He said preaching the gospel was not something he did for recognition or convenience—necessity was laid upon him. He went as far as saying, “woe is me” if he failed to do it. That sense of obligation is largely missing today. Many assume someone else will do the work, or that God will excuse our inconsistency. But Jesus made it clear: nothing is a valid excuse for neglecting the call of the gospel (Luke 9:59–60).

Paul went on to say that even if he did not preach willingly, he was still entrusted with a stewardship (1 Corinthians 9:17). In other words, this was not optional—it was an assignment. That mindset explains the power and results of his ministry.

Like Paul, we have been entrusted with the gospel. Serving in it is not a suggestion; it is our responsibility. Do not wait for applause or motivation. Be faithful, and let God be your reward.

God bless you.

Faith-Filled Confession:

Necessity is laid upon me to serve the Lord faithfully. I honor my stewardship in the gospel and fulfill my assignment with joy and diligence, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
