"But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8)
The reason you received the Holy Spirit was to give testimonies. Think about it for a second, who is a witness? A witness is one who gives testimony based on personal experience of an event, person or circumstance. What is more? Your testimony is not just for your Jerusalem, which in your case may be Dayton. It is for the whole of Ohio, Abuja, Oakville and Michigan, and to the ends of the earth.
There is someone, somewhere on this planet that needs to hear your testimony of Jesus. For without your testimony, the spirit of prophecy (according to Revelation 19:10) will not be released to affect their own experience and bring the Lord God glory.
The Spirit of God didn't primarily come upon you to speak in tongues and prophesy. Rather, He came upon you to make known the debts He cancelled, the addictions He decimated and the miracles He wrought for you. He came upon you so that you would be a mouthpiece of His loving kindness. Praise God!
Your job now is to tell it in the courts of public record at church, school, home and among friends and foes of the wonders that God has done for you. Your attitude should not be I don't know what to say when you go out into the world to preach, no. Your testimony is your message. It is the righteousness of God revealed unto you. Rather, your attitude toward testifying should be that of Isaiah who said, "For Zion’s sake I will not hold My peace, And for Jerusalem’s sake I will not rest, Until her righteousness goes forth as brightness, And her salvation as a lamp that burns" (Isaiah 62:1).
The woman with the issue of blood could have held her peace but she told her story of her encounter with Jesus. Your encounters with Him this year are your own story to tell. So tell it and let nothing hinder you from declaring to others what the Lord has done for you.
God bless you.
Faith-Filled Confession
I testify of all that the LORD has done for me. I declare His goodness to me and my household, and I do so with thanksgiving in my heart, knowing the He who called me to be His witness is ever faithful. Hallelujah!
