YOU SAID SO

2/19/2026

“Simon answered, ‘Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets’” (Luke 5:5).

I have often said that if God makes perfect sense to your natural mind, He is probably not stretching your faith. The Word of God was never designed to satisfy human logic; it was designed to produce faith. The only appropriate responses to God’s instruction are “Yes!” and “Amen!”

Scripture is filled with examples of divine instructions that defied human reasoning. God told Noah to build an ark before rain had ever been seen. According to Hebrews 11:7, by faith Noah obeyed God’s warning about things not yet seen and built an ark to save his family. It did not make sense—but it made faith. Though ridiculed, he obeyed and preserved generations.

Consider Naaman, commander of the army of Aram. Stricken with leprosy, he sought help from the prophet Elisha. The instruction came: “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored” (2 Kings 5:10). It sounded too simple, even insulting. Naaman became angry because he expected something more dramatic. But his servants wisely persuaded him to obey. When he humbled himself and dipped seven times, his flesh was restored like that of a child (2 Kings 5:13–14). The miracle was on the other side of obedience.

Then there was Simon Peter—a seasoned fisherman with partners and multiple boats. He understood the trade. On one particular night, he and his partners had exhausted their expertise and caught nothing. Nets were being washed. Effort was over.

Jesus, teaching from Simon’s boat, finished speaking and gave a strange instruction: “Put out into deep water, and let down the nets for a catch.” Simon responded, “Master, we’ve worked hard all night and haven’t caught anything. But because You say so, I will let down the nets.”

That phrase is powerful: “Because You said so.”

In essence, Simon was saying, “My experience says no. My training says no. My results say no. But Your Word says go—and that is enough.”

And when he obeyed, the nets filled to breaking and both boats began to sink under the weight of the blessing.

Simon chose revelation over reasoning. He chose the Word over his résumé. Faith came by hearing, and when the moment came to act, he moved on the Word.

God’s instructions may challenge your intellect. They may confront your history of failure. They may stretch beyond your credentials. But if you desire a testimony, you must respond with “Yes” and “Amen.”

Is there something God has asked you to do?

Forget past disappointments.

Ignore human limitations.

Lay aside your qualifications.

Respond like Simon: “Because You said so.”

Step out. Reach higher. Go deeper. Obey boldly. The miracle is waiting on the other side of your obedience.

God bless you!

Faith-Filled Confession:

As I give myself to the Word of God today, my faith rises. I am strengthened and renewed. I exalt God’s Word above every voice, every feeling, and every circumstance. I follow through on His instructions without hesitation. I am not moved by what I see, feel, or hear—I am moved by the Word of God alone. I declare that I am advancing and making progress. In Jesus’ Name, Amen!
