“While it is daytime, we must do the work of Him who sent Me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” — John 9:4–5
One thing I find fascinating about the Word of God is the light in which it presents us—the light of God’s glory in Christ Jesus. Scripture never presents us as weak, ordinary, or disadvantaged. Instead, we are shown as glorious, victorious, healthy, unique, resourceful, amazing, beautiful, blessed, invincible, exquisite, and so much more. Even more astounding is that we are presented in the same image and glory of Christ. That means we are shown as inseparable from divinity.
The best way to understand this mystery is through Jesus’ own words:
“Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father” (John 14:9).
Jesus wasn’t saying He was merely a representation of the Father—far from it. He was declaring, “I am the apokalupsis—the unveiling—of the divine essence.”
In that same light, the Christian is presented as the manifestation of divinity, a carrier and expresser of God’s life and essence. So believe this picture that the Father paints concerning you. Just as you wouldn’t deny the reflection you see in a mirror, do not deny this glorious identity you possess in Christ Jesus.
Let’s look at a few verses that illuminate this truth:
1 Corinthians 6:17 – “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.”
Colossians 3:4 (NLT) – “And when Christ, who is your life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory.”
2 Peter 1:4 (WYC) – “…by these things ye shall be made fellows of God's kind…”
1 John 4:17 – “As He is, so are we in this world.”
Now notice something powerful in our opening scripture:
Jesus said, “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
This meant the world was in deep darkness before He came (Matthew 4:12–16; Isaiah 60:2). But the good news is—He did not leave the world in darkness after His ascension.
In Matthew 5:14, Jesus declares:
“YOU are the light of the world.”
Hallelujah!
Do you realize what Jesus was saying? He is saying, “I am not the light of the world today—you are.”
Glory to God! You are the present, active, divine illumination in this world.
The Greek word for “light” here is phṓs, meaning the manifestation of the God-life; a divine illumination that reveals and imparts life.
This is the image of God’s glory—the God-kind in manifestation. It is perfection on display for the world to see. Therefore, think, talk, and walk with this consciousness every day. Be a burning and shining light.
Faith-Filled Confession
Father, in the name of Jesus, I thank You that I am the Light of the world—
a divine illumination that reveals and imparts life by the power of the Holy Ghost.
I am an exhibition of God’s perfection.
No defeat! No failure! No down days!
My life is upward and forward only.
I am the epitome of Christ’s victory.
Hallelujah!
