“By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.” (Hebrews 11:3)
One of the most important thoughts to harbor is that your current life is a reflection of your words. Your words, on the other hand, have been curated by the thoughts you have allowed into your belief system.
This is why Romans 12:2 says, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.” The concept of being conformed in this verse suggests a systemization of thoughts which is why so many Christians struggle to break certain habits. The Bible here says to refuse to be systematized in your thoughts by the world around. Rather, it says you should shut down the systematization that comes from the world around you by the renovation of your mind.
Now someone might ask, how do I reframe my mind against the world’s systematization that might have produced, for example, an addiction to gambling, alcohol or even lying, even though I am born again? The answer is in Hebrews 11:3: “By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that the things which are seen were not made of things which are visible.”The word, framed means to repair or renovate.
In other words, instead of letting the world around you dictate your preferences, set limitations or determine your response to external stimuli, you start to renovate the world around you with the word of God on your lips.
For example, let’s say you always have an urge to snack at 3am in the morning. Maybe a KFC has systematized you into performing this task at around that time of the night, you can shut it down by declaring that because of the greater One in you, a strong urge to pray comes on you at that time using the name of Jesus. Keep declaring it, even if you feel the urge and still succumb to the habit. In a very short time, 3am will take on a new meaning to you that doesn’t involve eating.
Brothers and sisters, this is the power that lies in us, which in many, stays dormant for a lack of use. Ephesians 3:20- 21 says, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us, to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen.”
You take that suggestion or temptation of the world and cast it down with the scriptures or words powered by the Holy Spirit. Two encounters in Luke’s account of the temptation of Jesus, the Master replies to the prince scriptures. But by the enemy’s third attempt, in which the devil quoted scripture, the Master used a Holy-Spirit-powered word to shut down the enemy. Luke 4:12 says, “And Jesus answered and said to him, “It has been said, ‘You shall not tempt the LORD your God.” Your calling is to change the world with Spirit-powered words. And you can either get these words from the Holy Spirit by meditation, making melodies to the Lord in your heart, speaking the interpretation of what was said in tongues or directly, through the inward witness.
What’s important is your response with the word to frame your world.
Have a great day!
