“I will praise the name of God with song and magnify Him with thanksgiving” (Psalm 69:30
There is a secret to living far above adversity—a divine strategy that confuses the enemy and disarms every challenge of life. That secret is thanksgiving. Not the ordinary kind that responds to blessings already seen, but the kind that makes no sense to the natural mind. The kind of thanksgiving that causes others to look at your situation and wonder, “How can he be thankful in a time like this?”
Anyone can thank God when life feels perfect. It’s easy to rejoice when the promotion comes, when the door opens, or when everything aligns. But what happens when things shift the other way? What happens when the job is lost… when the unexpected occurs… when life seems to contradict your expectations?
Will your thanksgiving remain unchanged?
True thanksgiving is an act of faith. It is not ruled by feelings or circumstances. It flows from trust in the unchanging character of God. Psalm 50:14 instructs us:
“Offer unto God the sacrifice of thanksgiving…”This means there will be moments when thanksgiving must be offered as asacrifice—not because things look good, but because Godisgood. Thanksgiving is a spiritual act performed through the agency of the Holy Spirit. It is faith in expression.
So what should you do when everything seems to be going the wrong direction? Magnify the Lord above it all.
You cannot increase God’s size, but you canmagnify Him in your own heart and perception. Psalm 69:30 says: “I will praise the name of God with song and magnify Him with thanksgiving.”
Thanksgiving lifts God above your circumstances in your consciousness.
Thanksgiving reinforces your trust in His integrity.
Thanksgiving silences the enemy, confuses the adversary, and anchors you in Christ’s victory.
A great man of God once said:
“When it looks like nothing is happening, remember—God is still working.”
Even when you don’t see the full picture, He is sustaining something in your life. And if you take a step forward, you will notice that even when some things seem to have gone wrong, many things are still going right. Those are God's sustained blessings—worthy of gratitude.
So take deliberate time today to thank God for what He has sustained, preserved, protected, and continued in your life. Choose to magnify Him with thanksgiving.
God bless you richly.
