WHY WE ARE SO DIFFERENT: A CHOSEN GENERATION

"But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light" (1 Peter 2:9).

When God desires anything, He speaks it forth. At Sinai, He spoke to the children of Israel, saying, "Now therefore, if you will indeed obey My voice and keep My covenant, then you shall be a special treasure to Me above all people; for all the earth is Mine. And you shall be to Me a kingdom of priests and a holy nation.' These are the words which you shall speak to the children of Israel." (Exodus 19:5-6). God's desire was for a people who would heed His voice so He could elevate them to be His chosen people. 

Why did God desire a special people? The Bible tells us He wanted a kingdom of priests and a holy nation. He wanted a people by which He could reach the rest of the nations of the earth. But to reach the earth, He would have to display His perfections through the people He chose. 

However, we know that Israel could not ascend to this high calling to be God's chosen generation because, according to the Bible, "...they would not listen to their judges, but they played the harlot with other gods, and bowed down to them. They turned quickly from the way in which their fathers walked, in obeying the commandments of the LORD; they did not do so" (Judges 2:17).

Since God still needed a chosen generation to lead the rest of the world to Him, He decided to sow Jesus as a seed, and from that seed, He reaped you and me. Hallelujah! The Bible says, "But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels, for the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that He, by the grace of God, might taste death for everyone. For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings." (Hebrews 2:9-10). 

God did not wait for you to obey Him. He made us with a heart to obey Him. 1 Peter 1:13-15 says, "Therefore gird up the loins of your mind, be sober, and rest your hope fully upon the grace that is to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ; as obedient children, not conforming yourselves to the former lusts, as in your ignorance; but as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct..." And this is why we are so different. God in-built a capacity in the believer to be obedient and holy. Oh Hallelujah! 

You were called out of darkness to showcase God's marvelous light; to teach the rest of the work the ways of God, and show the His acts. This is why you are so different.

Faith-Filled Confession

I am a king-priest unto God, determining the destiny of the nations by revealing the gospel to multiplied generations of people. The perfections of God are on constant display, and I proclaim God's praises everywhere I am. Glory!
