WHY FAST AND PRAY

"...However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.” (Matthew 17:21)

Prayer and fasting is a very important exercise for moving things in the spirit. Even after telling His disciples how to cast out evil spirits with a word, He showed them an exception for a particular kind of spirit that could not be expelled without prayer and fasting.

The pointer here is not that you fast and pray at the time you want to cast out a demon but ahead of your encounter with these kinds of demon. And this is why fasting is highly recommended. There are no scheduled demonic encounters and so, if in the process of casting out a demon, you encounter the particular kind that require fasting and prayer, you better have already fasted and prayed if you want to be able to displace that demon and free Jesus' heritage.

So why prayer and fasting? Prayer and fasting is a combination that gives your spirit ascendancy over your physical body such that even while you are on earth, your spirit is enabled to exert authority in the realm of the spirit, to allow or disallow certain transactions of spirits.

Don't get me wrong, casting out demons is a right of the believer. Jesus said in Mark 16:17, "And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons..." Yet, there is a kind that may not leave if you are not sensitive enough to make contact with these kind of demons in the spirit realm. An example of this kind of demon is in Mark 5:1-20

Think of it like you are a battery and in order to power certain appliances, you need to be charged for extensive periods. This is why you don't have to wait for the Holy Spirit to tell you to fast. If the benefits of fasting show up afterwards, particularly as it relates to exerting authority over certain demons, then fasting and prayer times must be approached, not from the deprivation to the flesh but from the benefits to your spirit as a divine law enforcement agent.

So, take out today and fast and pray. Remember, somethings will not change until you fast and pray.

Faith-Filled Confession

As I pray and fast today, my spiritual sensitivity is heightened to apprehend all that God would have me apprehend in the realm of the spirit. I hear God to do, today. I foresee things to come and take the necessary actions. And, I bring God glory by the intercessions that I am led to engage in. Oh! I am helped of God today! Hallelujah!
